Barto is wonderful. He and Andrew Rutherford both deserve MacArthur genius grants, Barto for playing Weiss as he should be played and Rutherford for his incredible sounding lutes.

is it hard too learn to read the tablature for this music that weiss wrote? is it just called german tablature? if anyone knows a good guiding book or site too understand this particular kind tablature (because there are quite a few differant it seems). and also what tuning is usually used in weiss, is it always the same? if anyone has this knowledge and feels like sharing i would be very grateful.

+MrWallerand It's call French tablature. Google should lead you to several lute web sites that talk about the basics (I think Roman Turovsky has a good introduction to baroque lute and its tuning and tablature on his page). Top 6 courses always the same, bass tuning depends on the key.
