North Star
Robert Fripp Lyrics

North star
We stare
How far
How clear
Now touch
Touch here
Now warm
Now near
Now near
Within
With you
With love
With love
How sweet
How filled

Now time
Now time
Now touch
How sweet
How near
How filled

Now time
Times still
I'm still

Tonight
North star
We stare
How far

How clear
How far
How clear
How far
How clear
Now touch
Touch here
Now warm
Now near

Within you
With you
With love
With love
With love

I stand in the hallway
She stands in the hall
I stand at the doorway
She stands at the door
I lean in the window
She leans on the wind
I wait for beginnings
She waits for the end

North star
North star
How far
How clear
Now touch
Touch here

Now warm
Now near
Now near
How far
How clear
Now touch
Touch here

Now warm
Now near
Now near

Very possibly the sexiest song ever.

"Within
With you
With love
With love
How sweet
How filled,
Now time, Now time"
...you can hear, achingly, wrenchingly, what's happening. Or what he's trying NOT to have happen. Just yet. 🙂

Possibly the greatest singing performance of Darryl's career?
It still brings me to tears 20 + yrs later.
Artistic beauty.
Thank you Darryl,and Robert.

Daryl Hall, outstanding vocalist, and Robert Fripp, incredible musician, fantastic collaboration

Peter Guglietta

And Phil Collins on drums.

Such a beautiful song, which first appeared on Robert Fripp's first solo album ''Exposure'' and then as a bonus song on Daryl Hall's fist solo effort, ''Sacred Songs'', when it's been released on CD. I just love this song, calm and peacefull, it calms me down when my world is torn apart. and in this crazy world we all live in, believe me, it happens too often. Great musicians on this song, apart from Robert Fripp on guitar and Daryl Hall on vocals, you can hear Brian Eno on synthesizer, Sid McGinnis on pedal steel guitar, Tony Levin on bass, and Phil Collins on drums.

I respect Daryl's pop career but I can't help be a little disappointed that he didn't have more forays into the art rock genre.

@rfly Yes, Fripp produced (and played on) Hall's first solo record, Sacred Songs. Also, Hall did ALL of the original vocals on the initial version of Fripp's Exposure.

Well you can't beat Hall and Oates. Otherwise, it would be known as [email protected] Good song though.

Makes me think of cheeskake...Daryl Hall and Fripp...together .?!!! I think old Bob, just loved his voice...did they do anything else together..?

Zaphod Beatlebrox

His record label tried to stop him from doing this album with Fripp. They thought it would be bad for his career. They were worried about their money.
