Let It Ride
Robert Glasper Experiment (ft. Norah Jones) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've never been a gambler
I stay on the same side, in all
So I know I'm alright
But all that's forgotten when
I'm looking in your eyes
Probably out on a limb
Only out from inside love
Show me what it feels like
Guaranteed anything
So our love is on the line

But I let it ride
I let it ride
I let it ride
I let it ride

It's easier than ever now
To walk away with no sight
I know makes you a little alright
I had you in my mind
I'd happily do anything
If I know I'm by your side
You, you show me what it feels like
Guaranteed anything
So our love is on the line

But I let it ride
I let it ride
I let it ride
I let it ride

All that for you
Just you, I let it ride
I let it ride
I let it ride
Let it ride

I let it ride
I let it ride

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Let It Ride" by Robert Glasper Experiment Norah Jones speaks about the complex emotion that people feel when they fall in love. The singer begins by saying that they have never been a gambler and usually play on the same side, associating it with the emotions of being careful and not taking risks. However, when they are looking into the eyes of their lover, everything else disappears, and they are willing to take the chance and put their love on the line. The idea of being on a limb is introduced, symbolizing the vulnerability of being in love, and it is out from the inside that the singer experiences the sensation of love.

The lyrics also imply that the singer is aware of the potential risks of being in love, but they feel it is worth it, and they are willing to gamble everything on their love. The line, "Our love is on the line," emphasizes the high stakes of their love story. Moreover, the singer says, "I had you in my mind," indicating that they were willing to do anything for their partner's sake, and if they knew they were on their partner's side, they would happily do anything. Despite the fear of losing something so special to them, they still "let it ride," letting the relationship take its course and trusting it to come out okay.

In conclusion, "Let It Ride" is a song about the vulnerability and risk that comes with falling in love, and the courage required to let it take its course. It speaks to the human desire for love, even when it goes against our instinct to protect ourselves.

and l really dig the percussionist.

@DuarteDiasFerreira

There is no precussionist...this is plain drum and bass...using samplers and loops to make the drums

@Indigo1322

@@DuarteDiasFerreiraI thought the same thing but Mark Colenburg is actually playing this complex rhythms. I saw him play this in a concert...an outstanding drummer.
