1) American rockabilly revivalist Robert Gordon (March 29, 1947 – October 18, 2022) grew up in Bethesda, M.D., a suburb of Washington D.C. Unlike many of his heroes, he had a relatively comfortable childhood. At a young age, after hearing Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel, he was inspired to choose R'n'R as his future career path, according to Wikipedia. In the mid-seventies Gordon was a part of the then-flourishing downtown NYC punk scene, fronting the CBGB regulars, Tuff Darts (who appear on an early CBGB live compilation album). After recording one album with the band ("All for the Love of Rock 'n' Roll) he parted ways with the band to work with such artists as Link Wray and Chris Spedding, both of whom share a love for early rock 'n' roll and rockabilly. Bruce Springsteen wrote the song, Fire, for Gordon and played piano on the studio version which also features the guitar-legend Link Wray.

Oh can't you see that I'm in misery
Please, please I'm begging like a fool
Woe is me look who's blue
There ain't no girl that's ever gonna tie me down I'm going out each night to paint the town
Well I was doing fine till I met you
Please, please have pity on me
Oh can't you see that I'm in misery
Please, please I'm begging like a fool
Woe is me look who's blue
Please, please have pity on me
Oh can't you see that I'm in misery
Please, please I'm begging like a fool
Woe is me look who's blue
Woe is me look who's blue
Woe is me look who's blue
The lyrics to the song "Look Who's Blue" by Robert Gordon are about a man who was once living his life freely, going out every night to paint the town, and never allowing any girl to tie him down. However, once he met someone special, he fell hard for her and now he finds himself begging for her pity as he is in misery. The irony is not lost on him that he was doing just fine until he met her and now he is blue.
The chorus of the song has the man pleading for pity, begging like a fool, and constantly exclaiming, "woe is me look who's blue." The repetition of these lines throughout the song emphasizes the desperation the man feels as he tries to win back the affections of the girl he loves.
The song captures the universal experience of falling in love and the vulnerability that comes with it. It shows how someone who was once so sure of himself can become a helpless romantic when the right person comes along. The lyrics are straightforward and heartfelt, making it easy for anyone to connect with the emotions expressed in the song.
