1) American rockabilly revivalist Robert Gordon (March 29, 1947 – October 18, 2022) grew up in Bethesda, M.D., a suburb of Washington D.C. Unlike many of his heroes, he had a relatively comfortable childhood. At a young age, after hearing Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel, he was inspired to choose R'n'R as his future career path, according to Wikipedia. In the mid-seventies Gordon was a part of the then-flourishing downtown NYC punk scene, fronting the CBGB regulars, Tuff Darts (who appear on an early CBGB live compilation album). After recording one album with the band ("All for the Love of Rock 'n' Roll) he parted ways with the band to work with such artists as Link Wray and Chris Spedding, both of whom share a love for early rock 'n' roll and rockabilly. Bruce Springsteen wrote the song, Fire, for Gordon and played piano on the studio version which also features the guitar-legend Link Wray.

All right
My baby whispers in my ear
Umm, sweet nothin's
He knows the things I like to hear
Umm, sweet nothin's
Things he wouldn't tell
Secret, baby
I keep them to myself
Sweet nothin's
Umm, sweet nothin's
We walk along hand-in-hand
Umm, sweet nothin's
Yeah, we both understand
Umm, sweet nothin's
Sittin' in the classroom trying to read my book
My baby give me that special look
Sweet nothin's
Umm, sweet nothin's
Ah, sittin on my front porch
Umm, sweet nothin's
Well, do I love you, of course
Umm, sweet nothin's
Mama turned on the front porch light
Sayin' "come here, darlin' that' enough for tonight"
Sweet nothin's
Umm, sweet nothin's
Sweet nothin's
The song "Sweet Nothin's" by Robert Gordon is a love song that talks about the relationship between two people who understand each other so much that they don't even need words to express their love for each other. The first verse shows how the girl's boyfriend whispers sweet nothings in her ear, things that he wouldn't tell anyone else, and she keeps them to herself. The second verse describes how they walk hand-in-hand and understand each other without having to say a word. In the chorus, the girl describes the sweet nothings that her boyfriend says to her, which make her feel loved and special.
The third verse mentions the girl sitting in the classroom, reading her book, and getting distracted when her boyfriend gives her a special look. This shows how she gets lost in his eyes and can't concentrate on anything else. The last verse shows them sitting on the porch, talking sweet nothings to each other when the girl's mother interrupts them and asks the girl to come inside. The song concludes with the chorus, which repeats the phrase "sweet nothings" to emphasize the theme of the song.
