Out of This World

When I'm looking at you,
I hear out of this world
The music that no mortal ever knew.
You're right out of a book,
The fairy tale I read when I was so high;
No armoured knight out of a book
After waiting so long for the right time,
After reaching so long for a star,
All at once from the long and lonely night time,
And despite time, here you are!
I'd fly out of this world
If you said we were through,
So let me fly out of this world
And spend the next eternity or two with you;
I'll spend the next eternity or two with you.
Robert Goulet's song "Out of This World" is a love ballad with lyrics that express the singer's infatuation with their partner. The opening lyrics, "You're clear out of this world, when I'm looking at you," allude to the idea that the person is simply too amazing to be of this world. The singer is so in awe of their partner's beauty and charm that they almost can't believe they exist. The following lyrics, "I hear out of this world, the music that no mortal ever knew," convey the idea that being with this person is like experiencing a completely different reality, one that is beyond the mortal world.
The singer goes on to describe their partner as being right out of a book, referencing the idea of a perfect fairy tale love story that they read as a child. The line "No armored knight out of a book could find a more enchanted Lorelei than I," suggests that the singer feels incredibly lucky to have found someone as magical and special as their partner. After waiting for the right person for so long, the singer is overjoyed that their partner is now in their life. They're so enamored with this person that they'd fly "out of this world" if their partner wanted to end things. Instead, they want to spend "the next eternity or two" with them.
Overall, "Out of This World" is a sweet, romantic song that expresses the blissful feeling of being in love with someone who feels like they belong in a fairy tale. The lyrics convey a sense of wonder and enchantment that many listeners can relate to.
