They got my Mazda at the E-Z Park It
At the rock & roll supermarket
Muzak music make me feel so funny
I went and spent all my money

We're riding on the escalator of life
We're shopping in the human mall
We're dancing on the escalator of life
Won't be happy 'til we have it all
We want it all
Escalator of life - up and down
Escalator of life - round and round

There's 111 choices
Don't listen to those little voices
I don't let the guilty feeling shake me
You can have your cake and eat it baby

We're riding on the escalator of life
We're shopping in the human mall
We're dancing on the escalator of life
Won't be happy 'til we have it all

Hey girl, I'm a personal friend of Gloria Vanderbilt
I got all the gold in the world around my neck
Come ride the steel dinosaur
Run wild in the jungle
Its a Zulu Nation
Seduction, sacrifice, a new sensation
Nothing ever changes

We're riding on the escalator of life
We're shopping in the human mall
We're dancing on the escalator of life
Won't be happy 'til we have it all

Had the pleasure of being a band member in his band, circa 1989-91 or so. He was a true gentleman and true talent. I learned so much from him in those few years of hard work with him, then my whole life as a musician and writer. RIP buddy!! Great times and memories!! Peace all. It sounds dated, yes, but paved the way for the Hooters,Conwell etc. His later work was even better...........

Bill T Beru Revue and Hooters were a mainstay on WMMR commercials in the early 80’s. They, and Hazard, were always appearing at local venues in and around Philadelphia.

I heard this song for the first time on the radio the other day and was immediately transported somewhere else, I can only assume by the escalator of life. I wondered, is any of this real?

I went to California in the early 80's with a friend who was also from the Philly area, but he lived in South Jersey. You should have seen the looks on people's faces when we played this at parties. This was right before MTV. Try explaining the Mummers sometime to someone that's never been to Philly.
