Nobody
Robert Manos Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Now you know
I have been trying to build a house with sticks
Easy does it
And it's getting stronger each and every day
And every moment
As I write this down its getting late
And I am trying find another space
And I hope this reaches you in time

Nobody knows my name
And the seasons always change
I will get back when I can
So, good bye for now
That's all my love

Do you think this is
From the kingdom of the northern seas
Just like the post card
With winter slowly turning into spring
I keep my head down
I came across a bridge I never saw
I thought I saw you another fall
Every morning when I pass this place

Nobody knows my name
And the seasons always change
I will get back when I can
So, good bye for now
That's all my love

Just like everything else
This too will pass
Only one more round
The days go fast
I promise you this
I won't be long
I won't be long

Nobody knows my name
And the seasons always change
Ok, I will get back when I can

So, good bye for now
That's all my love

Overall Meaning

The first verse of Robert Manos's song Nobody hints at the fragility of the singer's building project, which he has constructed with sticks. However, his efforts are slowly but surely becoming stronger. As he writes the lyrics, it is getting late, and he is seeking another space to continue creating. He hopes his message will reach his intended recipient in time.

The chorus is a repetition of Nobody knows my name and the seasons always change, implying the transience of life and the singer's transient state. He promises to return as soon as he can as he bids farewell, adding "that's all my love" to demonstrate his emotional attachment to the recipient.

The second verse evokes memories of a postcard picture of a place where winter turns into spring. The singer keeps his head down as if avoiding someone or searching for something. He stumbles upon a bridge that he had never seen before and recalls seeing someone else the previous fall. Passing the same spot every morning, the past seems to merge with the present in the singer's mind.

In the final verse, the singer acknowledges the inevitability of life's changes with the phrase "just like everything else, this too will pass." The days go fast, but he assures his loved one that he won't be gone for long, signifying hope for the future.
