Every Kinda People
Robert Palmer Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Keeps a man upon his feet
Holding down his job
Trying to show he can't be bought
Ooh, it takes every kind of people
To make what life's about, yeah
Every kind of people
Someone's looking for a lead
In his duty to a King or creed
Protecting what he feels is right
Fights against wrong with his life
There's no profit in deceit
Honest men know that
Revenge do not taste sweet
Whether yellow, black or white
Each and every man's the same inside
It takes every kind of people
To make what life's about, yeah
Every kind of people
To make the world go 'round
You know that love's the only goal
That could bring a peace to any soul
Hey, and every man's the same
He wants the sunshine in his name
Ooh, it takes every kind of people
The lyrics to Robert Palmer's song Every Kinda People explore the idea that every individual has something unique to offer to the world, and it takes a diverse range of people to make life complete. The opening lines suggest that the struggle to make a living is a common experience among people, but despite the hardships, individuals strive to show that they can't be bought or manipulated. The chorus emphasizes the need for every kind of people to make life complete.
The second verse continues to acknowledge the diversity of experiences and beliefs among people. The lyrics suggest that everyone has their own duty or responsibility to fulfill, whether it's to a king or a moral creed. The verses also highlight the importance of being an honest and decent person, as there is no profit in deceit, and revenge only leads to bitterness. The lyrics also emphasize that regardless of race or ethnicity, every individual deserves equal treatment, and everyone has the potential to make society better.
The final lines of the song emphasize the importance of love and its power in bringing peace to the individual soul. The lyrics acknowledge that every individual desires happiness and a sense of purpose in life, and that this desire for joy is something that unites all people, regardless of their background. Overall, the song celebrates the diversity and worth of every kind of person, and highlights the importance of recognizing and cherishing this diversity.
