In 1984, Plant formed a short-lived all-star retro rock group with musicians Jimmy Page (also of Led Zeppelin), Jeff Beck, and Phil Collins called The Honeydrippers. The band had a Top Ten hit with their song "Sea of Love", a remake of the Phil Phillips' chestnut. Plant's also notably performed with Page in the outfit Page & Plant.
Plant's love of the music of Morocco led him to a new collaboration called Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation. The band's releases met with critical acclaim and numerous Grammy nominations. They completed a notable 2006 tour of Europe in September.
In 2007, Plant began recording and performing with American bluegrass star Alison Krauss. A duet album, Raising Sand, was released on 23 October 2007 on Rounder Records. The album, recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles and produced by T-Bone Burnett, met with enormous critical and commercial success. Tours have reached devoted audiences in multiple cities.
The year of 2010 proves to be yet another successful year for the lemon squeezer. During the summer, Plant will be reuniting with his old, Pre-Zep group, The Band Of Joy, for a tour of the southern and mid continental tour of the US.
In 2012 Robert Plant starts another band project going by the name Sensational Space Shifters releasing the live album Robert Plant Presents: Sensational Space Shifters. Along with Plant himself the band consists of Liam "Skin" Tyson, Justin Adams, Billy Fuller and John Baggot along with Dave Smith, Juldeh Camara and Patty Griffin.
Messin' With the Mekon
Robert Plant Lyrics

Don't ask me the question 'cos I just don't know
Sold by my intentions got my emotions on hold
So don't ask me why
You ask how I feel, and what it's like inside
I'm hot in pursuit, I'm bearing down on your hide
Involved in a recovery tryin' to save my pride
Wound up in circumstance beyond my control
Affairs of the heart no longer leave me cold
Oh, what a feeling such a long time ago
Don't ask me again
Get down baby, you're out of control
You leave be my side or you leave on your own
I gotta know what I should know,
Don't ask me again
So don't you ask me how I feel and what it's like inside
'Cos in the circumstances babe you don't mess with my pride
It's just recovery babe, just recovery babe
Meet me in the middle, please some give and take
Alternative arrangements are there to be made
A new proposition's not a piece of cake
So don't you ask me
Wound up in circumstance beyond my control
Affairs of the heart no longer leave me cold
Oh what a feeling such a long time ago
Don't ask me again
The lyrics of Robert Plant's song Messin' With The Mekon are primarily about the confusion and frustration experienced in a romantic relationship. The opening line, "Oh, don't cross your fingers, cross your heart and soul" suggests a desire for honesty and commitment in the relationship. However, the singer is unable to answer the questions his partner has about his intentions and emotions, indicating a lack of clarity and perhaps even unwillingness to fully open up.
The following lines describe the singer's efforts to save face and maintain pride as he navigates the unpredictable circumstances of his relationship. He expresses frustration with his partner's behavior, telling her to get "down" and "out of control," but also acknowledges that he himself is "hot in pursuit" and "involved in a recovery" - seemingly trying to salvage or mend the troubled relationship.
The final lines of the song reflect on the emotional toll of the situation, with the singer feeling trapped and helpless amidst the circumstances beyond his control. Despite the unresolved issues and lack of clear answers, he longs for the sense of connection and excitement he once felt, encapsulated by the wistful line "oh what a feeling such a long time ago."
Overall, the lyrics in Messin' With The Mekon are a reflection on the complexities and challenges of romantic relationships, particularly when both parties struggle with trust, honesty, and vulnerability.
