Promises that burned within my heart have now grown dim
With a doubting heart I follow the paths of earthly wisdom
Forgive me for my unbelief
Renew the fire again
Lord have mercy
Christ have mercy
Lord have mercy
Christ have mercy
Lord have mercy on me
I have built an altar where I worship things of men
I have taken journeys that have drawn me far from You
Now I am returning to Your mercies ever flowing
Pardon my transgressions
Help me love You again
Lord have mercy
Christ have mercy
Lord have mercy on me
Lord have mercy
Christ have mercy
Lord have mercy on me
I have longed to know You and Your tender mercies
Like a river of forgiveness ever flowing without end
I bow my heart before You in the goodness of Your presence
In the song "Lord Have Mercy," Robin Mark reflects on his doubts and transgressions as a Christian. He confesses that he has forgotten the words of Jesus and has instead followed the paths of earthly wisdom. He recognizes his unbelief and asks for forgiveness and for his faith to be renewed. He acknowledges that he has built an altar to worship things of the world and has gone on journeys that have taken him far from God. In returning to God, he asks for pardon and for help in loving Him again.
Throughout the song, Mark asks for mercy from both the Lord and Christ. He recognizes their divine power and their ability to forgive and restore faith. He expresses his desire to know God and His tender mercies, which are like a river of forgiveness that flows without end. In the final stanza, Mark humbly bows his heart before God and thanks Him for His goodness and presence.

One of the most underrated albums ever made. Praise God for this great work from Robin Mark

Yeah, the “Revival in Belfast” & then the sequel from which this song comes, “Come heal this land,” to me, are some of the greatest worship albums put together. Over the 20 years of listening to them I find myself encouraged & “pricked at the heart” each time I hear them. Still fresh even after 20 plus years. I’ve been looking for a DVD of the original “Revival in Belfast” but cannot find one. They must not have done the video of it.
