EVER WANT TO SAY HELLO
TO EACH OTHER, ALWAYS IN A HURRY
ALWAYS SOME PLACE TO GO
SOMETIMES WHEN I'M ALL ALONE
I LISTEN TO THE WIND OH!
BETTER KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN BOY
RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN GO
RUN AWAY-RUN AWAY-RUN AWAYTHE
RAIN IS GONNA CATCH YOU NOW
BETTER HANG ON TO A PASSING CLOUD OH!
RUN AWAY-RUN AWAY-RUN AWAY
NOTHIN'S GONNA STOP YOU NOW
GONNA KISS THE OCEAN DOWN BELOW OH!
I LOVE THE WAY YOU FALL SO GENTLY ON MY
FACE
I WOULDN'T WANT TO MAKE YOU ANGRY
I WOULDN'T WANT TO FALL FROM GRACE
SO I WONDER IF THE RAINDROPS FALLIN
WILL EVER STOP TO SAY HELLO
TO THE ONE RIGHT THERE BESIDE THEM
OR PERHAPS WE'LL NEVER KNOW
SOMETIMES WHEN I'M ALL ALONE
I LISTEN TO THE WIND OH!
BETTER KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN BOY
RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN GO
CHORUS:
RUN AWAY-RUN AWAY-RUN AWAY
THE RAIN IS GONNA CATCH YOU NOW
BETTER HANG ON TO A PASSING CLOUD OH!
RUN AWAY-RUN AWAY-RUN AWAY
NOTHIN'S GONNA STOP YOU NOW
GONNA KISS THE OCEAN DOWN BELOW OH
The song "Run Away" by Robin McAuley is a metaphorical representation of life's challenges and overcoming them. The beginning of the song talks about raindrops falling and wondering if they ever say hello to each other. This metaphorically represents people in our life who rush by us without ever really acknowledging our presence. They may be in such haste that they do not take the time to stop and say hello. The chorus of the song encourages the listener to run away, as if they are fleeing from these busy individuals who are focused on their own lives.
The lyrics then go on to describe the feeling of being alone and how we can find solace in listening to the wind. The wind is a metaphor for something that is always present, but not always acknowledged. It is a reminder to take a moment and be present. The lyrics also talk about kissing the ocean down below, which is a representation of finding peace and solace in nature.
Overall, the song is a call to action to run away from the chaos of life and find peace in the stillness of nature. It encourages listeners to take a moment and be present, listen to the wind, and find the peace that comes from being alone in nature.
