A house diva whose productions use live instrumentation just as much as electronics, Robin S. debuted with the Top Ten hit "Show Me Love." The Queens, NY native was signed by Big Beat Records in 1993, and debuted with the hot single, which climbed the charts during 1994, and spurred her first album, also titled Show Me Love.
After working on her songwriting for several years, she began recruiting producers such as Eric "E-Smoove" Miller and Todd Terry to work on her second album. Released in 1997 on Atlantic, From Now On reflected broader interests for Robin S., encompassing gospel and ballads in addition to hi-NRG dancefloor material. The album spawned one successful single on the dance charts: "It Must Be Love."

透明な真珠のように toumei na shinju no you ni
中の浮く涙 chuu no uku namida
あなたに急降下 ah ah anata ni kyuukouka-a-a
濃紺の星空に noukon no hoshizora ni

The lyrics to Robin S.'s song, "Midnight," are in Japanese, therefore, the interpretation of the lyrics may vary from person to person. However, there are some key ideas expressed throughout the song that can be interpreted. The song speaks to feelings of loneliness, connection, and love. The first verse speaks about the wind and the waves, and connecting fingers, creating a blue electric current. The second verse speaks to the idea that just by looking at someone, we can feel a tremendous loneliness that is shattered in one instant, expressing the powerful connection between individuals, no conversation necessary. The chorus is a declaration of love, saying, "I love you," and the third verse speaks of wanting to live alongside the person we love, even if it means enduring tragedy.
Overall, the lyrics express intense emotions, with the language of waves, electricity, and stars. The chorus especially, with the repetition of the word "kira," which means "sparkle," creates a sense of brightness, hope, and life.
