Perhaps Trower's most famous album is Bridge of Sighs (1974). This album, along with his first (Twice Removed from Yesterday) and third (For Earth Below) solo albums, was produced by his former Procol Harum band mate, organist Matthew Fisher.
Those who favor electric guitarists who can play live what they record in the studio will be very impressed with the "Robin Trower Live" album - especially the cut "Daydream". While often compared to Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower never received the publicity nor same volume of fans.
Day of the Eagle

But I couldn't seem to rise up from my bed
I'm not alone, than I am
People seem to think I'm superman
But I watch for the love
I'm living in the day of the eagle, the eagle not the, dove
Its like a weight, that brings me down
Its in my mind, it's in my soul
Its telling me the things I can't be told
Its a watch for the love
Living in the day of the eagle, eagle not the, dove
Another day, another night
I want to love, they want to fight
I need the time, I got to be alone
I got to meet a lover on my own
I watch for the love
Living in the day of the eagle, eagle not the, dove
The lyrics to Robin Trower's song "Day of the Eagle" seem to convey a sense of feeling trapped or weighed down by societal expectations and pressures. The first verse indicates that there is a possibility of hope or light ("I saw a light, just up ahead") but the singer feels unable to make progress or escape ("But I couldn't seem to rise up from my bed"). Despite seeming like a superhero to others ("People seem to think I'm superman"), the singer still longs for love and connection ("But I watch for the love"). The line "living in the day of the eagle, the eagle not the, dove" seems to suggest a world or era in which strength and power, symbolized by the eagle, are valued over peace and gentleness, symbolized by the dove.
The second verse adds to this sense of being trapped, with the weight described as being in both the singer's mind and soul ("Its in my mind, it's in my soul"). This weight, an inability to break free from expectations, tells the singer things they can't be told. Again, the line "its a watch for the love, living in the day of the eagle, eagle not the, dove" reinforces the idea that the singer feels stuck in a world where power and strength are favored over love and connection.
Finally, the third verse hints at a desire for escape or solitude ("I need the time, I got to be alone") in order to find love ("I got to meet a lover on my own"). However, this desire comes up against the world that the singer finds themselves in, where others want to fight and love seems to be scarce ("Another day, another night, I want to love, they want to fight"). Overall, the lyrics of "Day of the Eagle" seem to explore the tension between wanting connection and love, and feeling trapped or weighed down by expectations of strength and power.
