GPT-4 has 2 trillion parameters, meaning weights alone would need something like 10 terabytes to store, and it was trained on something like a petabyte of data.

In 1988, 500 megabytes of RAM (assuming volatile RAM since otherwise the ending of the movie wouldn't have been as dramatic) would've cost several tens of thousands of dollars though, so it probably seemed like a super huge number.

Yup pretty much for him to access accessories, equipment, even a grappling magnet he shoots to hook on to metals for swinging around and stopping vehicles. In the first film he only used his laser weapon to defend himself and certain situations, not to kill at all.
