Career
Jurado began performing flamenco at a very young age, debuting on the big screen in 1962 with Los guerrilleros, acting alongside Manolo Escobar. She also played a main role in 1966's Proceso a una estrella and 1971's Una chica casi decente. While temporarily living in Argentina, the Spanish diva participated in a successful musical called La zapatera prodigiosa, based on Federico García Lorca's work. After teaming with composer Manuel Alejandro, Rocío Jurado became a major and beloved figure on the Latin music scene, acclaimed throughout America and Spain after releasing Muera el amor and Señora, among other hits.
Illness
In 2004, Jurado was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer for which she was treated in Houston, Texas in 2006. In April 2006, she was also treated for acute liver failure in a hospital in Madrid, Spain. On May 26, 2006, Spain's Culture Minister Carmen Calvo announced that Jurado had suffered a stroke, an assertion denied by Jurado's personal physician Dr. Domingo and by her brother and manager Amador Mohedano. She died at 5:15 in the morning on June 1st, 2006, at her home in La Moraleja, Madrid, aged 61. She is buried in her hometown, Chipiona, Cadiz, in the San José Cemetery.
Lo Siento Mi Amor

Pero hoy te lo voy a decir
Aunque pueda faltarme el valor
Al hablarte a la cara
Lo siento, mi amor
Pero ya me cansé de fingir
Y pretendo acabar de una vez
Lo siento, mi amor
Lo siento, mi amor
Lo siento, mi amor
Hace tiempo que no siento nada
Al hacerlo contigo
Que mi cuerpo no tiembla de ganas
Al verte encendido
Y tu cara y tu pecho y tus manos
Parecen escarchas
Y tus besos, que ayer me excitaban
No me dicen nada
Y es que existe otro amor
Que lo tengo callado, callado
Escondido y vibrando en mi alma
Quiriendo gritarlo
Ya no puedo ocultarlo, no puedo callarlo
No puedo
Y prefiero decirlo y gritarlo
Aseguirte fingiendo
Lo siento, mi amor
Lo siento
Lo siento, mi amor
Lo siento
The lyrics of Rocío Jurado's song "Lo Siento, Mi Amor" are about a woman who is tired of pretending to love someone she no longer has any feelings for. The song starts with her apologizing to her partner and admitting that she needs to be honest with him, even if it takes courage to speak out. She explains that she has been pretending to love him for a while and now wants to end this farce once and for all. She then confesses that she no longer feels anything when she is with him and that their physical intimacy no longer excites her. She tries to explain that her love for someone else is consuming her, and she can no longer keep it a secret.
The song highlights the complexity of love and how it can change over time. It also sheds light on the pain of pretending to love someone you no longer have feelings for, which can be emotionally draining. The lyrics beautifully convey the emotions of the woman, and the music enhances the mood, making it one of the most memorable songs in Spanish music history.

Lo siento, mi amor
I am sorry, my love
Pero hoy te lo voy a decir
But today I am going to tell you
Aunque pueda faltarme el valor
Even though I may lack the courage
Al hablarte a la cara
To speak to you face-to-face
Lo siento, mi amor
I am sorry, my love
Pero ya me cansé de fingir
But I am tired of pretending
Y pretendo acabar de una vez
And I intend to end it once and for all
Para siempre esta farsa
This farce forever
Lo siento, mi amor
I am sorry, my love
Lo siento, mi amor
I am sorry, my love
Hace tiempo que no siento nada
It's been a while since I've felt anything
Al hacerlo contigo
When I'm with you
Que mi cuerpo no tiembla de ganas
My body doesn't tremble with desire
Al verte encendido
When I see you aroused
Y tu cara y tu pecho y tus manos
And your face, chest, and hands
Parecen escarchas
Seem like frost
Y tus besos, que ayer me excitaban
And your kisses, which used to arouse me
No me dicen nada
They mean nothing to me
Y es que existe otro amor
And the thing is, there's another love
Que lo tengo callado, callado
That I've kept hidden, hidden
Escondido y vibrando en mi alma
Hidden and vibrating in my soul
Quiriendo gritarlo
Wanting to shout it out
Ya no puedo ocultarlo, no puedo callarlo
I can't hide it anymore, I can't keep it quiet
No puedo
I can't
Y prefiero decirlo y gritarlo
And I'd rather say it and shout it out
Aseguirte fingiendo
Than keep pretending with you
Lo siento, mi amor
I'm sorry, my love
Lo siento
I'm sorry
Lo siento, mi amor
I'm sorry, my love
Lo siento
I'm sorry
