Originally a member of Busta Rhymes' crew, Flipmode Squad becoming the sixth member after the departure of Lord Have Mercy, (aside from other flipmode acts Serious and Show Money) Roc Marciano left in 2001 to form the U.N., a hardcore underground hip hop group consisting of three other MCs (Dino Brave, Laku & Mic Raw) with whom he released an album on Carson Daly's 456 Entertainment in 2004. Notably, Roc Marciano appeared in the 2005 Wu-Tang Clan compilation album, Wu-Tang Meets the Indie Culture, and in Pete Rock's 2008 album, NY's Finest, drawing acclaim for such performances. Since 2008, Roc Marciano has been working on his solo career, and to widespread internet acclaim, released his entirely self-produced debut album, Marcberg in 2010.
In 2011, Roc Marciano collaborated with Gangrene, the duo of rapper/producers Oh No and The Alchemist, to release the collaborative EP Greneberg. His second solo album, Reloaded, was released in November 2012, which Allmusic described as "Grim and exultant at once, this is low-profile hustling on wax at its finest."
Even a cursory glance at the history of Strong Island reveals that its produced more than its fair share of innovative verbal technicians over the years. One of the most original MCs to hail from its shores in recent times has been Roc Marciano from The UN crew. Initially put on by fellow L.I. resident Busta Rhymes, it wasn’t until Marcy and his crew lent their vocals to three tracks for Pete Rock’s Petestrumentals project that the world really took notice. Utilizing a stream-of-consciousness technique that sounds effortless but is actually very precise in terms of timing and cadence, Marciano is in a class of his own right now.

The bitter dose
Burgundy sables rock Purple Label
Birds in the stable (yeah) shots out the 38
Burnt the potato (Hah, woo)
You know my words
This ain''t that same-old, same-old
To stay afloat I bet my favorite rain coat
(Woo) this made of suede ho
I was made to persuade hoes
These ain't the days of old
I spray you then hasta luego (Grrt)
What's a chazzer?
That's a pig that's not flying straight, yo
(Straight, yo)
A hole await's for you in San Diego
Don't go Plaxico your own fat toe (Uh)
Aye, you was sayin'? Said you
Was trained to go (Go)
Don’t hang your head low, brother
Pain is growth
How could I still be getting better?
I'd explain but won't (But won't)
I know some haters don't promote
But some say I'm the GOAT (Baa)
Why try and fix this shit if it ain't broke?
Sling yayo, kept my neighbors woke (Woke)
I was still focused on ways of making dope
(Get it) wrap the brick up like it's Mumm-Ra
The plot to fly or not conspired
Run it by my young guy in a Hyundai
(We'll get 'em tonight) it's a done job
Choppa dump up at ya bomboclaat and what not
Fuck em
We don't got no love for the other side
(Ain't no love, nigga)
Touch you, cut you a slice of humble pie
Life's like a jungle (Like a jungle)
I got too much hustle to
Shuck and jive like some do (Uh)
I might become a Jew with dumb loot
The Mac sound like a drum loop (Brrt)
The brussels was colorful like
Some chunks of fruit stop riding dicks
Choose a new muscle group the bus moves
Cocksuckers don't forget to lick nuts too
Haha, Marc, nigga
You already know what the fuck it is, sucka
Uh, yeah, it's me
They try to kidnap this best
Selling author like "Misery" (Uh) what I do?
Escape the situation like wizardry (True)
Blacked out on your mans
Now they call him Edward Scissorfeet (Uh)
Pun picked me up
Told em meet me by the river B
(It's right over there)
Two guns just for symmetry
Bitch I had that shit on me
When I was playing Little League (Uh)
Yeah your boy is first class
I've never seen the middle seat (Nope)
Bitch I'm talking literally
Motherfuckers ain't never seen Italy (Nope)
Dug Jesus out the grave
Found him rocking the chain
My face was on his piece
Ain't no topping my name (Damn)
For over twenty years your boy
Been whipping drops in the rain (Fact)
Butt naked playing Tekken
I'm on top of my game (Fact)
Double dragons on my head (Uh)
Two M5 Wagon - blue and red
I hit that shit so good
I can't even find my bread
(Where the fuck is it at?)
I know it's here somewhere, fuck it
I guess I'll find it soon some year it's me
“Corniche” by Roc Marciano is a song that exhibits the rapper’s ability to deliver smooth lyrics with a beat that matches the mood of the song. The song starts with a wary question, “Uh, fuckyou got here, nigga? The bitter dose”. This line sets the tone for what appears to be a message to a former associate in the street game who might have betrayed the rapper. Roc goes on to talk about his success and how it has distinguished him from his haters who are focused on his downfall, “Why try and fix this shit if it ain't broke? Sling yayo, kept my neighbors woke (Woke) I was still focused on ways of making dope”. He also shows the lifestyle that comes with his status, referring to his designer outfits with a line like “Burgundy sables rock Purple Label”.
The song also carries a message of perseverance in the face of adversity. Roc goes on to sum up his journey in life and how he’s been able to keep moving despite setbacks. Whether he is inspired by his DNA’s closeness to Sambo’s or his desire to make it in a world that is harsh and unforgiving, Roc admits that he has come a long way and still has a long way to go. He closes off with a metaphor comparing his sense of direction to Jesus’ lost chain and doubles down on his earlier note that some people just won’t be happy with his success, calling them Edward Scissorfeet.

Invisible Rules
Roc continuously try's to lift the bar higher and create such a distinctive sound that some would never have the balls to put out this type of work. A true artist who believes in his vision and its paid of tremendously.....With this type of hiphop you have to start of at the shallow end and swim your way up, otherwise you won't comprehend the body of work and end up drowning......To me he's the most creative in the game, with such a talent that he controls every particle, everyone else plays it safe because there scared of failure and ridicule....Roc Doesn't Care about me or you, which is why i fully respect his methodology and salivate for his new music....A true mad scientist who has never i mean never let me down.....Officially Roc Marci is Number 1 to me and i see nobody topping him, which is why i will continue to support his vision and teach the blind about his work.....I already purchased the RR2 Limited vinyl.
