This takes place in a far-off place from here.

Light years from tomorrow
It’s set so far in the future that even the concept of time has become a distance measure.

Far beyond yesterday
The world they are imagining is drastically different from the world we know.

She is watching
In this world, someone is keeping watch and observing what’s happening.

Heart aching with sorrow
The observer is emotional about what she’s seeing.

She is broken, as she waits
The observer is helpless to intervene and is broken-hearted as she watches and waits.

Hoping when all is said and done
There are still glimmers of hope.

We learn to love and be as one
If we can learn to love each other and work together, a better future is possible.

Oh Starlight, don't you cry
The observer is addressing “Starlight,” a symbol of hope and light in this dark world.

We're gonna make it right before tomorrow
We are going to fix things before it’s too late.

We're gonna find a place where we belong
We will find a new home where we can thrive.

And so you know, you'll never shine alone
There will always be hope and light to guide us through the dark times.

There are shadows sleeping on the horizon
There are still dangers lurking on the edge of this world.

Leave us scared and so afraid
These shadows fill those observing with fear and dread.

As the fallout of a world divided
This world has been torn apart, and the aftermath is still being felt.

It brings her tears and so much pain
The observer is deeply upset by the pain and suffering caused by the world’s division.

And so we take cover from the dark
People are doing what they can to protect themselves from the dangers on the horizon.

Hoping to find where we can start
There is still hope that they can rebuild, but they need to know where to begin.

Starlight, we'll find a place
The observer still has faith, symbolized by “Starlight,” that they will find a new home.

You will see as the mountains fall and turn to dust
Eventually, even the most unchanging structures will crumble to nothing.

That there's one thing that won't change
But there is one thing that endures, no matter how much the world changes.

I believe there is something within each of us
That something is within each of us.

That always stays
That thing is constant and unchanging.

That will always remain
No matter what happens, that thing will never go away.

As long as love never fades
And that thing is love, which will sustain us through even the darkest times.

Starlight we'll find a place
The observer repeats her faith in finding a new home.

Where we belong, we belong
They will find a place where they can thrive and be happy.

She is watching
The observer is still watching and waiting for this day.

Heart aching with sorrow
Despite her faith and hope, the observer is still deeply affected by the world’s pain.

She is broken, as she waits
And she is still waiting, broken-hearted but still holding on to the hope that things can get better.
