Starlight
Rocco Deluca/Slash Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Light years from tomorrow
Far beyond yesterday
She is watching
Heart aching with sorrow
She is broken, as she waits
Hoping when all is said and done
Oh Starlight, don't you cry
We're gonna make it right before tomorrow
Oh Starlight, don't you cry
We're gonna find a place where we belong
(Where we belong)
And so you know, you'll never shine alone
There are shadows sleeping on the horizon
Leave us scared and so afraid
As the fallout of a world divided
It brings her tears and so much pain
And so we take cover from the dark
Hoping to find where we can start
Oh Starlight, don't you cry
We're gonna make it right before tomorrow
Oh Starlight, don't you cry
We're gonna find a place where we belong
(Where we belong)
And so you know, you'll never shine alone
Starlight, we'll find a place
Where we belong, we belong
You will see as the mountains fall and turn to dust
That there's one thing that won't change
I believe there is something within each of us
That always stays
That will always remain
As long as love never fades
Oh Starlight, don't you cry
We're gonna make it right before tomorrow
Oh Starlight, don't you cry
We're gonna find a place where we belong
And so you know, you'll never shine alone
Starlight we'll find a place
Where we belong, we belong
She is watching
Heart aching with sorrow
She is broken, as she waits
The song Starlight, by Rocco DeLuca and Slash, is a ballad about a broken-hearted woman who is waiting for love to conquer all. The lyrics describe her as being far away, light years from tomorrow and beyond yesterday, highlighting how she has been waiting for a long time. She is portrayed as being in a lot of pain, her heart aching with sorrow. The lyrics express how she is broken but still hopeful that we will all learn to love and be as one. The chorus of the song reassures her that everything will be alright. The lyrics say that all humans are in search of a place where they belong, and that everyone will find it one day. They believe that as long as love doesn't fade away, there is always a chance to make things right.
The song expresses a poignant message of hope and describes the pain and sadness that comes with being separated from a loved one or feeling lost in life. The lyrics also remind us that we are not alone and that one day we will all find a place where we finally belong. The bridge of the song states that as long as we keep our love from fading away, we can always find the strength to persevere through the darkness of our fears and have hope for a better tomorrow.

How could I ignore this song for so long ?! I've been listen to Gn'R and Slash solo albums for so many years, and even now I can't explain how they manage to keep creating such meaningful songs lyrics and beautiful melodies. People say he's overrated, but he's definitely underrated after all.
@prechanmist
When I heard this song at release, I thought it was boring. Other songs such as Starlight, Nothing to Say were my favorites. Now I listen to this album again and realize that this one is the pure treasure. I wonder why they don't play this live :(
