Voisine's musical breakthrough came with his 1989 album Hélène which sold three million copies and became a major hit not only in Quebec but also in France, Belgium and Switzerland. In 1990, Hélène was awarded the Best Album prize at the the Victoires de la Musique, France's version of Grammys. After a highly successful European Tour in 1991, he was awarded France's Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
In 1993, Voisine had his biggest English-language hit to date with the single and album both entitled I'll Always Be There, which he worked on with David Foster.
Over the years, he has continued to alternatively record both French and English-language albums. His French language work and concert tours have continued to enjoy success in Europe (especially France) and Quebec, while his English-language recordings are a frequent mainstay of Canadian Adult Contemporary radio.

Et si un jour venait
Comme si sa se pouvait
Doucement
Plus devant
L'un pour l'autre
Nos mains se d? Lassait
Si on se are? Veiller
Lentement, diff? Rent
E, grandissant
En m? Me temp
L'un dans l'autre
Qui saura les mots, qui
Sauras garder l'amour qu'il
Faut
Comme un lendemain, Une
? Vidence jamais perdu d'avance
Qui s'auras les mots, Qui sauras aimer une fois de trop ce qu'on seras toi et moi
Et si les mots pouvais
Et si on y croyais
Simplement

The lyrics of Roch Voisine's song Et Si convey the idea of a hypothetical scenario where two people could embrace their love for each other. The song starts with an "if" statement, suggesting the possibility of a future where the two people gradually come closer to each other. As their hands come together, they begin to awaken the love that they have been suppressing. They are different from each other, but they find something special in one another. The lyrics then ask the question of who will find the words to express their love and hold onto it. The song describes the possibility of a perfect future where the two people will become one, creating a world that they are content to be a part of.
The song lyrics, possibly influenced by Roch Voisine's French-Canadian upbringing, are infused with a romantic and emotional sensibility with "Et Si." The lyrics tell a story of love and hope that many people can relate to, regardless of their culture or background. Many people have felt what the song describes; love that they are too afraid to express. Despite its simplicity, the song's melody and lyrics communicate feelings that are relatable to many people. The words and the tune are incredibly touching and can evoke deep emotions in anyone who listens. The song suggests that love and happiness are possible in a world that can often seem so harsh and uncompromising.
