Tengo Miedo
Rocio Jurado Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
El miedo es tu carcelero,
Y el corazón se te muere
Si no te dicen te quiero.
Y cualquier cosa te hiere
Como a mí me esta pasando,
Que me despierto llorando
Porque tus ojos, mi vía,
Y ese color de tu pelo
Aun dormía me dan celos,
Gitano, gitano, del alma mía.
ESTRIBILLO
Miedo, tengo miedo,
Miedo de quererte.
Miedo, tengo miedo,
Miedo de perderte.
Sueño noche y día
Que sin ti me quedo.
Tengo, vida mía,
Miedo, mucho miedo.
Tiemblo de verme contigo
Y tiemblo si no te veo.
Este queré es un castigo
Castigo que yo deseo.
Yo en tus palabras no creo
Ni en las mías tú tampoco.
Por tu avenate de loco
Ya me duele el pensamiento
De este puñal que presiento
Que llenará de agonía,
Gitano, gitano, de mis tormentos.
ESTRIBILLO
Miedo, tengo miedo,
Miedo de quererte.
Miedo, tengo miedo,
Miedo de perderte.
Sueño noche y día
Que sin ti me quedo.
Tengo, vida mía,
Miedo, mucho miedo.
The song "Tengo Miedo" by Rocio Jurado is about the fear and uncertainty that come with falling in love. The lyrics express how when one truly loves someone, fear becomes their jailer and the heart cannot bear it when they don't hear those three words "te quiero" (I love you). The fear that the singer experiences feels like a painful and crippling agony, especially when they wake up crying and trembling. The singer's jealousy stems from the fear of losing their love to someone else, highlighted by the reference to the color of their loved one's hair. The chorus emphasizes the recurring theme of fear and how it is present in every aspect of the relationship. The singer dreams of being together all the time, terrified of the thought of being without their lover. Even when they are together, fear still plagues the singer, and they are tormented by the thought that their love may not be returned.
The second verse elaborates on the complexities of the relationship, describing it as a punishment that they desire. The singer doesn't believe in their own words nor their lover's words anymore, and the thought of being with them makes them tremble. Even the idea of being without their lover is unbearable to them because the love they feel is essential to their survival. The singer is tormented by the feeling that they will be hurt, the pain that will come from the betrayal of their lover. The singer can feel the impending doom like a knife that will end their happiness.
In conclusion, the song "Tengo Miedo" by Rocio Jurado portrays the insecurities and fears that come with being in love, and emphasizes the emotional turmoil that love can bring.
