I need to say something about this right now; this song DOES NOT rock. And I'm not saying this as a hater, because I love it.
Can anybody else grasp the irony of this cover? Toad the Wet Sprocket took one of the most raucous party anthems of the 1970's and turned it into a campfire song, right along the lines of "Eternity" by Imperial Teen. And yet it's still fun.
Is this why Paul and Gene approved of this version? I don't know. But that's what I hear in the cover.
