Rockapella is an American a cappella musical group best known for their series of Folgers Coffee commercials and the Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? theme song. "Rockapella" is a portmanteau of "rock" and "a cappella". In addition to original vocal music, the group also perform a cappella covers of pop songs.
The original group members consisted of Brown University alumni Elliott Kerman, David Stix, Sean Altman, and Steve Keyes, who started performing together sheerly out of their love for music. Stix left the group early on and was replaced with Charlie Evett. After having performed on New York City street corners for passers-by the group met a producer who found them a spot on the television show Spike & Co.: Do It A Cappella, hosted by Spike Lee. It was this show that put them in the national spotlight.
The text "All sounds provided by the voices and appendages of Rockapella," the central idea of the group, appears on the group's label debut, Don't Tell Me You Do.
None of the original members of Rockapella currently remain in the group. Founding members Sean Altman and Steve Keyes, Rockapella alum Charlie Evett, and non-Rockapella-related baritone Kevin Weist now comprise an a cappella group called The GrooveBarbers. They can be seen on a current nationwide television ad for Astelin nasal spray as 'The Astelins'. Founding member Elliott Kerman, is working independently on jazz music compilations.
Frequently, songs downloaded on file-sharing programs are mis-tagged as Rockapella, when they are instead by other a cappella artists, including collegiate groups, Moxy Früvous, The Nylons, and Da Vinci's Notebook, as well as for other, less similar acts, such as Eddie From Ohio, or They Might Be Giants.
On December 11th, 2009 Rockapella made a free version of "White Christmas" available for download on Rockapella.com.

Everything to Me
Rockapella Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Sun on a yacht on the Yangtze,
I can feel the breeze off the Mississippi.
You only mean everything to me.
Spinning over Chad in a chopper,
Boogie-woogie in a blimp over Bombay,
Take a batobus through the Gulf to Yucatan.
I could thumb around Thargomindah in the middle of the winter
Do the Louvre in a minute get a poster in the giftshop
Take a suite in Topeka with spiders on the ceiling
I never know what you're feeling
What poisonous fruit you're peeling
What miracle cure you've found
I could ride into Cannes in a tux on a Clydesdale,
Bareback on a packmule to Greece,
I could walk a highwire 'tween the World Trade Towers.
You only mean everything to me.
Gonna saddle up a manatee and dive for gefiltes
(Funny white blob gonna drown)
Parachute into paranoia with your mama's dishes
(You better go underground)
Hang-glide on the Hudson with nothing but an aspirin.
You better know what I'm feeling
What dinosaur's doing your dealing
What kinda hog's in your ground.
Rip the conch from the shell do the Junkanoo party in Bahama
(Back-to-back)
And they were singing (Back-to-back)
They said it was nothing (Yeah) but a Zombie Jamboree Yeah
Gonna give a Bronx Cheer with an eggcream moustache.
You only mean everything to me.
Yeah, so give a hot towel to a humble visitor.
You only mean everything to me.
Rockapella's "Everything to Me" is a song that speaks to the heart of what love truly means. The lyrics speak to the idea that no matter how wild and adventurous the singer's life may become, they still find their loved one to be the most important thing in their life - the one thing that makes everything else worth it. The song is filled with vivid imagery and a sense of adventure, with each line describing a new and exciting location or activity that the singer could be a part of, but which ultimately pale in comparison to the love they share with their partner.
The first verse speaks of the singer's ability to do just about anything in the world, from riding the subway to yachting on the Yangtze River, but emphasizes that none of these things could compare to how much their loved one means to them. The second verse continues this theme, with the singer imagining even more daring and exotic activities to take part in, whether that be riding a manatee or hang-gliding over the Hudson. Regardless of how thrilling or exciting these activities may be, the singer acknowledges that their significance pales in comparison to their devotion and love for their partner.
The final verse speaks to the immensity of the love the singer feels, stating that they would do anything for their partner, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem to others. The lyrics speak to the idea that true love is not necessarily about grand gestures or monumental displays of affection, but rather about the everyday actions and moments that bring two people closer together.
