Frame later signed to Rough Trade. Aztec Camera's biggest hit was 1987's Somewhere In My Heart, which reached number 3 in the UK singles chart and is still a staple of FM radio. Frame duetted with one of his musical heroes, Mick Jones of The Clash, on his 1990 single Good Morning Britain, which showcased an overtly political streak that sometimes featured in his work. He also recorded with the Japanese composer, Ryuichi Sakamoto. Aztec Camera disbanded in 1996 after the release of their final album Frestonia.
Frame is now pursuing a solo career. His first solo album The North Star came out in 1998 and featured the single Reason For Living. There was a change of gear for 2002's Surf, an album of acoustic songs that attracted widespread critical acclaim and was generally seen as a return to Frame's best songwriting form. The track Small World was used as the theme music to the BBC TV comedy series, Early Doors. Frame also made his first-ever appearance at the Glastonbury Festival in 2003. Western Skies was released in May 2006. Two live releases followed, Live at Ronnie Scott's and Live in Osaka. His most recent release was Seven Dials, released on Edwyn Collins' AED in 2014.

Roddy Frame Lyrics

That spans the Golden Gate
Somewhere there's a photograph of it
Strung behind my smiling face
Man, its so high, Man, its so wide
From San Francisco to Sausalito
Where they started Rumours
Ooh, sparkling water
Ooh, send me a postcard
From hazy California, signed with love
On her shoulder sits the devil in the detail
Over the other ther's a vast and wild ocean
So should we do A? Or should we do B?
Fog descending at the crossroads
But your heart knows
Ooh, sparkling water
Blue skies above
Ooh, send me a postcard
From hazy California, signed with love
What you gonna do about your life?
Who we gotta sue to get it right?
Anyway you choose, its just a ride
Ooh, sparkling water
Blue skies above
Ooh, send me a postcard
From hazy California, signed with love
Roddy Frame's song Postcard tells the story of the singer's longing for a postcard from California, symbolized by the Golden Gate Bridge. The singer talks about the vastness of the bridge, and how it connects San Francisco to Sausalito, a place where the band Rumours started. Behind the singer's smiling face lies a photograph of the bridge, which reflects the beauty of California with its sparkling water and blue skies. However, amidst all this beauty, the singer is torn between choosing A or B and dealing with the devil in the details. There's a vast and wild ocean on one side, and fog descending at the crossroads. Despite this, the heart knows what decision to take. The song ends with the singer contemplating life and how it's just a ride.
The song has a melancholy yet optimistic tone that encapsulates the singer's yearning for new adventures and experiences. The Golden Gate Bridge serves as a metaphor for the singer's desire to cross over to new horizons and experience the beauty of the world. The song's contrast between California's beauty and its uncertainty makes it a relatable and emotional piece. The lyrics are simple and metaphorical and paint a poignant picture of a time and place.
