Before Queen, Taylor founded Smile with Brian May. Smile released one album in Japan which is now available throughout the world as Ghost of a Smile. Smile wrote a few of the songs which would later appear on Queen's self-titled debut album, and one - Doin' Alright was featured on the Smile album.
Taylor also fronted another band, The Cross from 1987 to 1991. The first album, Shove it (1988) was a solo album by Taylor in all but name - he wrote all the songs and played most of the instruments himself. This was an experiment that didn't really work for Taylor and in the other two albums by The Cross he allowed the other members of the band to contribute more, resulting in more traditionally styled rock albums.
Out of the four original members of Queen Taylor and guitarist Brian May continued to play as Queen + Paul Rodgers between 2004 and 2008. Of the other original members singer Freddie Mercury tragically died in 1991 and bassist John Deacon retired from music business in the mid-1990's.
In 2009, after the partnership between him, Brian and Paul ended, Roger worked on some new solo material from which his single The Unblinking Eye (Everything is Broken) was digitally released at 23th November at Queenonline.com. At the moment it is unclear how the future of Queen will look like, though Roger has announced that he will do a short tour in the spring of 2010.

Feeling alright,feel like contact tonight
Well you know what it says and you know what you feel
And you know what it's like and you know it's for real
Take it to the limit, take it to the height
Take it to the limit, contact tonight
Don't speak,don't break the spell
I contact you,you contact me
Across the room our glances meet
I contact you
Eye contact,eye contact
Feeling fine,feel like dynamite
Eyes speak more than words can say
Sparks fly eye contact is made
Well you know what it says and you know what you feel
And you know what it's like and you know it's for real
So take it to the limit, take it to the height
Take it to the limit, contact tonight
Breathe deep let your feelings show
Let's dance but not too slow
I contact you,you contact me
Across the room our glances meet
I contact you
Eye contact,eye contact
Take it to the limit, take it to the limit
Eye contact,eye contact
The lyrics of "Contact" by Roger Taylor are about making a connection with someone through eye contact. The opening lines "Feeling strange, turn around do it again, Feeling alright, feel like contact tonight" suggest the feeling of being drawn to someone in a magnetic way, through a simple glance across the room. The lyrics emphasize how the non-verbal communication of making eye contact can convey emotions and desires in a way that words cannot.
The chorus of the song, "Take it to the limit, take it to the height, Take it to the limit, contact tonight" urges the listener to seize the moment and take a chance to connect with the person they are attracted to. The lines "Don't speak, don't break the spell, Let's dance, you dance so well" suggests that the connection made through eye contact can be enhanced by dancing together and allowing the moment to unfold naturally.
The lyrics also touch upon the idea that eye contact can be so powerful that it transcends language and cultural barriers. The lyrics "I contact you, you contact me, Across the room, our glances meet, Eyes speak more than words can say, Sparks fly eye contact is made" convey a universal truth that people can communicate their emotions and desires through eye contact, no matter what language they speak or where they come from.
