And run a fleet of carriages
I will own and operate a collection of luxurious carriages

I will acknowledge and greet all the important women

With friendliness, as much as is
I will treat them kindly and respectfully, as appropriate

Befitting of my new estate
It is fitting for me to act in this manner with my new status

I will greet everyone with respect and courtesy, even those in power

Perhaps this is not the right path to take

So where shall I go, somebody?
I need to figure out where to go and what to do

Who do I know? Nobody!

All the people I have associated with in the past

Have always been villains and thieves
Have always had criminal tendencies

So at my time of life I should start
At this point in my life, I should start doing something different

Turning over new leaves?
Should I start a new future with new beginnings?

If you want to eat, you've got to earn a bob!
If you want to survive, you have to work for money

Is it such a humiliation
Is there shame in earning money legitimately?

For a robber to perform an honest job?
Can a thief find a legitimate job to do?

So a job I'm getting, possibly
I might have found a job

I wonder who the boss'll be?
I wonder who my employer will be?

I wonder if he'll take to me?
I wonder if he'll accept me for who I am?

What bonuses he'll make to me?
What kinds of incentives or awards will I receive?

I'll start at eight and finish late
I'll work long hours from morning until night

At normal rate, and all, but wait!
I'll work for a moderate salary, but hang on!

I think I'd better think it out again
Perhaps I should reconsider this job too

What happens when I'm seventy?
What will become of me when I reach old age?

Must come a time, seventy
Eventually, I will reach the age of seventy

When you're old, and it's cold
When I grow old, and the weather is chilly

And who cares if you live or you die?
Who will care about my life or death?

The one consolation's the money
The only consolation will be the wealth I have accumulated

But who will find a job for me?
I need someone to help me find a legitimate job

There is no in between for me
There is no middle ground for me

But who will change the scene for me?
