No One

No-ones in the room
He's always there to lend a helping hand
No one understands
And I've got no one in my corner when I'm going down
And I'm wondering if there's anyone out there
No one seems to care
I'm gonna heave my troubles over the mountainside
He says I'm the losing kind
Well
Takes one to know one
And I've got no one by my side
To tell me trouble's too
In a world it seems to value your only fame
No one knows my name
I'm gonna leave my worries down by the river side
Where my guardian angel resides
He says I'm the losing kind
Well, takes one to know one
And I've got no one to sing this for
No-ones in my house
He's always there to lend a clapping hand
No one understands
The lyrics of Ron Sexsmith's song "No One" express the feeling of loneliness and isolation. The song's protagonist is struggling through life's troubles and has no one to turn to for support. The first two lines, "I've got no one to sing this for, no-ones in the room," set the tone for the song's theme: loneliness. The singer talks about how he has no one by his side, no one to lean on when life gets tough, and no one to confide in. The line "No one seems to care" sums up this sentiment.
The singer then turns to his guardian angel for support. He tells us that he's going to heave his troubles over the mountainside, where his guardian angel resides. This act of throwing his troubles away shows his desperation and need for some sort of resolution. However, his guardian angel tells him that he is "the losing kind," saying "Well, takes one to know one." This line is both harsh and compassionate as the angel understands the singer's pain.
In the last verse, the singer expresses his desire to leave his worries down by the riverside, where his guardian angel resides. This reflects the idea of giving oneself up to a higher power, in this case, the singer's guardian angel, and trusting that things will get better. The lyrics of Ron Sexsmith's song "No One" are powerful and thought-provoking, expressing the feelings of loneliness and isolation that can be experienced in daily life.
