Seven Days
Ron Wood Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Seven days, seven more days she'll be comin'
I'll be waiting at the station for her to arrive
Seven more days, all I gotta do is survive.

She been gone ever since I been a child
Ever since I seen her smile, I ain't forgotten her eyes.
She had a face that could outshine the sun in the skies.
I been good, I been good while I been waitin'
Maybe guilty of hesitatin', I just been holdin' on
Seven more days, all that'll be gone.

There's kissing in the valley,
Thieving in the alley,
Fighting every inch of the way.
Trying to be tender
With somebody I remember
In a night that's always brighter'n the day.

Seven days, seven more days that are connected
Just like I expected, she'll be comin' on forth,
My beautiful comrade from the north.

There's kissing in the valley,
Thieving in the alley,
Fighting every inch of the way.
Trying to be tender

With somebody I remember
In a night that's always brighter'n the day.

Overall Meaning

In Ron Wood's song "Seven Days," the singer is eagerly waiting for his loved one to return after being gone for a long time. The lyrics of the song highlight the intense longing for someone who has been deeply missed. The repetition of "Seven days, seven more days" creates an almost urgent feeling, as if every moment without their loved one is unbearable. The singer remembers his loved one's face, which he describes as brighter than the sun in the skies. He also talks about his guilt for hesitating to act on his feelings, but now that she's coming back, he will let go of his reservations.

The lyrics also paint a picture of a world that is not easy to navigate. There's kissing in the valley, thieving in the alley, and fighting every inch of the way, but the singer is committed to being tender with his loved one, even as they navigate through the difficulties. The song has a nostalgic quality to it, as the singer remembers a past night that was "brighter'n the day," which adds to the longing and desire for their loved one to return.

Is there anything this man couldn't do? Hasn't done? It's amazing to think he's stood behind the best and never been outshone.

@gregstuart6622

Thatโ€™s the perfect way to describe Ronโ€™s career. He has worked with so many top shelf musicians and always left his mark. I canโ€™t imagine how much more impoverished our sonic landscape would be without his decades of fine work.

Absolutely true.
He is also one helluva artist.
He is very serious about his paintings. If you haven't seen his work, check it out.
And, his wife Sally....Gorgeous.

I saw The Stones 2 days ago, had seen them in 2007 already and loved them, but this time... Ronnie absolutely nailed it. As you say, he didn't outshine the rest, but man, he did absolutely not go unnoticed... Still recovering from it... Actually, hope to never recover from it...
