Just for a Moment
Ron Wood & Ronnie Lane Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've been a drinking, biding my time,
I've loaded and wasted, by my design
I've been using myself, like I only I can,
But I understand that you understand.

'Cause just for a moment, I found my peace,
Just for a moment, I came across me,
Everything is, and there's nothing a-missing,
Well just for a moment, I found my bliss.

Just for a moment I found my peace,
Well just for a moment, I came across me,

Everything is, and there's nothing a-missing,
Just for a moment, I was complete.

Overall Meaning

The song "Just For A Moment" by Ron Wood and Ronnie Lane talks about a person who has been living a reckless life by drinking and wasting their time. They have been using themselves as they see fit, but they understand that the person they are singing to also understands them. For just a moment, they found their peace and came across themselves. They realized that everything is as it should be and nothing is missing. In that moment, they found their bliss and felt complete.

This song can be interpreted in different ways, but one of them is that it talks about finding happiness in the midst of chaos. It is about the search for inner peace even though the outside world may be tumultuous. The lyrics suggest that this person has been living in a state of confusion but that they have found clarity and understanding. The connection with the other person mentioned in the lyrics is also important because it suggests that finding peace and understanding can also come from human connection.

All or Nothing

Annie by Ronnie Lane

Oh look, stand tall Annie
Seen the world grow small, Annie
But when they fall, Annie
Where will we be?

Winter has come, Annie
No strength in the sun, Annie
And when it's gone, Annie
Where shall we be?

When all those colours have faded
When old Jack comes to call,
Don't tell him, 'No', tell him 'Maybe'
Oh now Annie, may God bless us all
Oh yeah Annie, God bless us all.

Hear the children they call, Annie.
Every leaf must fall, Annie
But there's a song, Annie,
Wherever we'll be.

Ronnie, you will never be forgotten. Special man - witty, cheeky, and a great songwriter. So unfair that you were taken from us, and MS is such a terrible disease. (His mom had it too.) Ian "Mac" McLagan always included a tribute to "Plonk" in his shows, keeping Ronnie's legacy alive. These 2 best friends are re-united now. RIP.

Reminds me of the great friendship between The Band's Levon Helm and Rick Danko....Plonk and Mac reunited....I have never forgotten Mac's support and admiration for the compositions of Plonk....

Indeed....their wonderful friendship reminds me of Levon Helm and Rick Danko .....

If anyone would have the chords for this song I’d be so grateful. Seriously, what a masterpiece

I do not live far from where Ronnie Lane was put to rest.  I need to go place flowers and a card of thank's on his grave. He is buried in Trinidad Co. . It is a peaceful place but lonely. Ronnie wrote so many beautiful songs. Steve Marriott and Ronnie were from my understanding 2 of the best song writers to come out of Great Britian other than Lennon and McCartney.
Ronnie's writing is so soulful and deep.    Just for a moment we can close our eyes

thank you Ronnie and your good friend here playing next to you...

Hi ! That's a powerful tribute ! And so touching ! I was born in East Ham ! Just a stones throw from Ronnies Plaistow ! I know the Manor, and Strone Road where Steve Marriott came from ! As a musician meself ? I admire Ronnie so much ! I even spend time on the River at Richmond where Ronnie had so many happy times !!! 20 years ago we lost such a sweet soul, on the Debris !!! Xxx

Being into alot of rock and roll and in and out of classic rock bands you don't hear the name Ronnie Lane come up very often,  but I'm so glad I found him,  love his music!!
Shame what happened to him in the end
Just like he said.  "Life - It's a short movie"
