Linda Ronstadt had pipes. One of my most favorites ever.

the key word is rehearse. and beyond rehearsal is practicing your craft. Linda had so much natural talent, but she didnt just walk up to a mic and belt it out. Vocals are like playing and instrument and you must learn your craft.

You are absolutely correct! I lived in the Bay area in the 60's and 70's and wouldn't trade any moment for anything. Spent so much of my time at Winterland, Fillmore, Golden Gate Park, Kezar Stadium listening to ALL the great bands without dancers, voice correction, looping, lip syncing etc.... What a great time and place to be a teenager!!!

I agree 💯 %. I saw many concerts general admission. We would push our way up near the stage and amps. I remember not hearing right for a week LOL. But we had the greatest. Hell we had the Beatles!!! There will never be a generation of musicians like that again. Too much has changed. ✌️🎶👍☮️🎹🎼

Just an observation - I've spent years working vocals in various bands, with varying results. These guys come out and not only perform perfect harmonies, they follow her phrasing, her breat. all her nuance to an absolute tee. Take it from me, it ain't easy. She was obviously one of the premier vocalists in Post-Elvis rock, and show that off here. Just as a further aside, I fell absolutely in love with the woman from the moment I saw her.

What a voice and stage presence. In the 70s and 80s I really slept on her, shame I didn't sleep with her, and didn't come to appreciate her real talent until later in life. She is the true essence of powerful strong female rockers that could take over a stage.

I don't think Adele has any vocal richness: to me she is loud, lumpen and one-note and she strangles her vowels. I actually loathe her voice and all commentators these days tell me I should be moved to tears by it. Occasionally I am but for completely the wrong reasons!Linda sang from the heart. OK, they were not her songs but she sang them sometimes with a depth and richness that the original writer could not even get close to. No, you are right. Today's Grammy winner vocalists cannot compete.

I love Linda here and here she is no classicist but Adele does not come close to Linda at her best or even her most mediocre.I have to admit I was prejudiced against Adele from day one, just because of the hype But I still think her voice is leaden and one-note with no emotion I can detect (mind you, I have not been to one of her £2K per ticket London concerts and maybe the emotion there is unanswerable.)

Have you been to a concert recently? The sound engineers are horrific. There is too much SssHhhhh sounds and not enough clarity. They want loud sound which distorts the artists sounds.

One of the best live Renditions of any pop song I've ever heard in my life. The entire band his incredible here and it goes without saying Linda is at the top of her game in an extra treat for me as a drummer is seeing Mike Botts back there he was truly an awesome drummer and I was very sad to hear he passed away recently he was awesome and the mid-70s bread concert in lineup and did most of their drumming with David Gates.

She IS a class act that's hard to follow. Funny how that whole promotional thing worked in those days. One year you might be opening a concert for one group or artist and the the next year it might be you are the headliner. But I am by no means suggesting that Linda Ronstadt is second to any other artists.

@nookam She may have been that way with some of her fellow artists who shared a mutual respect but she righteously resented the way the music industry as a whole treated her. Case in point, she wanted to release an all Spanish album (dedicated to her father) early on but was discouraged/thwarted by the powers that be. But she eventually did what many artists inevitably do and release it under their own label or find somebody that will.👍

I saw Linda in Charlotte, NC in 1990 with essentially the same band and they knocked me OUT! I never realized the close collaboration and friendship of this group of musicians (particularly Andrew Gold, who was her musical director and band leader for many years) Linda is not only talented and one of the great female singers of our generation but also a drop dead, knock out gorgeous woman. Such a crush on her back in the day (Stevie Nicks can go jump in a lake🤭)

In the 70s we were just overwhelmed with true musicians and their talent playing, writing, singing, composing. Collaborations with some of the greatest ever. A night of Grammy awards had a full list of talent. Now the truly great ones are scarce. I miss those days. Linda was very hot. And sang her cute ass off!!!! As I get old, appreciate that I experienced probably the greatest Era in music history. 🎶 👍☮️✌️😢

One of the few reasons I'm glad I'm 61 is the fact that I got to see Linda Ronstadt live when I was in high school. It was amazing and I swear I and all my friends fell in love with her.

That’s a REAL woman singing right there. I’ve been listening to her forever. Used to ride around in cars in college listening to her on 8 track. No money to do anything else. Singing along. It was wonderful.
