THE MOST BEAUTIFUL is Rookie of the Year's third studio album and marks the shining moment in Dunson's evolution from acoustic-pop upstart to shimmering indie troubadour. Rookie of the Year began as a solo acoustic project, then evolved into a full band, and has been stripped down and rebuilt several times since, giving his audience a different perspective with each record and tour.
"The new album is a fresh start for me," says the Fayetteville, North Carolina-based Dunson. "It takes elements from the past records but focuses much more on the overall songwriting effort." THE MOST BEAUTIFUL is a tightly-constructed collaborative effort between Dunson, producer Matt Malpass (Copeland, Lydia) and friends including Matt Thiessen (of the Grammy-nominated Relient K) and Erika Lauren (of MTV's The Real World: DC), among others.
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL chronicles Dunson's growth as both a musician and a person. "The song 'Run Away' is all about creating a new adventure," he says of the vast soundscape that opens the album. "Then there's 'Turn the Page,' which is about letting go of the past—something that I've had to do as Rookie of the Year has evolved over the years." Songs on the record efficiently dance between genres while ultimately yearning for a brighter future, endearing Rookie of the Year to many.
Dunson's packed tour schedule and willingness to play everywhere he can have enabled him to connect with fans of all ages. "At first, my audience was primarily teenagers, but now at shows I see younger fans all the way up to parents singing along with the music. It's really a cool atmosphere," he explains. "I'd like to think there's a universal element to my music where you never really have to grow out of Rookie of the Year."
Rookie of the Year has sold over 70,000 records in the last 5 years and songs have appeared on MTV's Laguna Beach and The Hills. Radio stations as far away as Indonesia have also fallen in love with "Frustrated" off of THE MOST BEAUTIFUL. With over 10 million plays on social networking sites and previous tours with Mutemath, LFO, Secondhand Serenade, and Gym Class Heroes, Rookie of the Year has earned a place as one of the hardest-working artists in today's music scene.
"I write music to help people get through the bad times in their lives," says Dunson. "Life is an adventure and I hope THE MOST BEAUTIFUL can be the soundtrack to it."

Something Incredible
Rookie of the Year Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Or not worth my time.
Or not worth your time.
And this clock has been going around for days.
Without seeing your face.
Your star won't fade.
Please don't be afraid.
Want to come home and stay awhile with you.
And this song will not get out of my head.
The song that you said.
Would be ours forever.
While lying in bed.
If we don't speak.
You know when we'll meet.
Every night at three.
Just you and me.
You're not here.
You disappeared.
You're not there.
You didn't believe.
Stars aren't on our side.
Can't change them if we tried.
Can't change them if we tried.
I wish we could take the time.
Ask ourselves why.
I wish we could take the time.
And give this another try
The lyrics of Rookie of the Year's song "Something Incredible" express a longing for a relationship to work out, but with an awareness that it may not. The singer is unsure if this potential relationship is worth their time or the other person's. However, despite their doubts, they express a hope that it could be something incredible. The clock ticking represents the passage of time, with them waiting to see the other person's face and hoping their star won't fade. They ask the other person not to be afraid, indicating that they may fear commitment or vulnerability in a relationship.
The lyrics then shift to a memory of a conversation the two had, where they expressed the desire for a song to be theirs forever. The singer can't get this song out of their head, indicating that this memory is still very present for them. However, the relationship appears to have ended, with the other person disappearing and not believing that the stars are on their side. Despite this, the singer wishes they could take the time to figure out why it didn't work out and give the relationship another try.
Overall, the lyrics of "Something Incredible" showcase the uncertainty and hope that often go hand in hand in relationships. The singer is aware of the possible risks and doubts the other person's commitment, but still holds onto a desire for something great to come out of it.

I love the look on his friends' faces when he went for the wind up. They actually heard his muscles and tendons load up to launch a missle.

The sound of his tendons and muscles retracting is one of those 90’s sounds permanently embedded in my mind.

When this came out the kids were all older than me, and seemed more like high schoolers. Now they look like they're 10 year old and it's screwing with my memory haha

pretty sure it's in how you perceive things through the mind of a kid. When I was in first grade all the 4th and 5th graders looked like highschoolers to me.

For real. It’s like that with all movies. The mighty ducks does the same to me
