1) Root is a Czech metal legend from city of Brno founded in 1987 by Big Boss and Blackie. Root was one of the original pre-second-wave black metal bands, following in the footsteps of Bathory and Venom, while taking the genre in a more refined, less savage direction. Their style has since progressed towards a more epic, dark heavy metal sound with a clean-sung vocal approach, but their music can still be recognized as black metal at its core due to the unchanged ideology of the band. After the album Madness of the Graves (2003), Blackie left Root to concentrate on his band Cales. Blackie also played in side-project Entrails, an old school black-thrash metal band.

Black Dove & White Raven
Root Lyrics

And started to call himself human,
From the beginning he appeared to be friend of the order of the universum,
But as the time passed by he changed,
To be the worst creature we have ever learned.
Black Dove or White Raven?
The lyrics to Root's song Black Dove & White Raven address the complex dichotomy of human nature. The opening lines introduce the idea that humans are creatures that are unknown in origin, but have given themselves the label of "human." In the beginning, humans appear to be in harmony with the universe, but over time they deviate from this order and become the worst creatures that have ever existed. The final line of the stanza, "Black Dove or White Raven?" asks us to consider whether we are inherently good or evil, whether we are capable of embracing light or darkness.
The lyrics suggest that there is a duality at the core of human nature with the potential for both good and evil. This duality is also reflected in the line "Black Dove or White Raven?" The dove is traditionally associated with peace and love, while the raven often signifies death and darkness. The choice between the two can represent an existential question for humans, whether we choose to embrace compassion and light, or destruction and darkness. The song Black Dove & White Raven is a thought-provoking exploration of human nature and our capacity for both benevolence and malevolence.
