1) Root is a Czech metal legend from city of Brno founded in 1987 by Big Boss and Blackie. Root was one of the original pre-second-wave black metal bands, following in the footsteps of Bathory and Venom, while taking the genre in a more refined, less savage direction. Their style has since progressed towards a more epic, dark heavy metal sound with a clean-sung vocal approach, but their music can still be recognized as black metal at its core due to the unchanged ideology of the band. After the album Madness of the Graves (2003), Blackie left Root to concentrate on his band Cales. Blackie also played in side-project Entrails, an old school black-thrash metal band.

Strange beauty of Fright
The lyrics to Root's song Strange Beauty of Fright are open to interpretation, but they appear to explore the paradoxical allure of fear and death. The imagery in the first verse is particularly striking, as the flowers of lotus are traditionally associated with beauty and enlightenment, but in this context, they have wolfteeth, which suggests a darker and more menacing quality. Similarly, the "amazing sceneries with dead" juxtapose natural beauty with mortality in a way that could be seen as unsettling or disturbing. However, there is also a fascination with the "breathing beauty of death," which implies that death is not merely an end, but also a transformative force that imbues life with a certain aura.
The chorus reinforces this idea that fear and death have an uncanny allure, and that humans are both drawn to and repelled by them. The "amazing feeling of fear" is described as something we "love with abandon," which suggests a reckless, almost masochistic, pleasure in the experience of fear. This pleasure is juxtaposed with the "cruel pain" that ensues when the "fantastic pictures of life" are subsumed by fear and death. This seems to suggest that humans are attracted to fear and death precisely because they have the power to transform and disrupt our everyday existence.
Overall, the lyrics to Strange Beauty of Fright capture the ambivalent and complex relationship humans have with fear and death. On the one hand, these phenomena evoke a sense of awe and wonder, as well as a desire for transcendence. On the other hand, they also bring pain, suffering, and the realization of our own mortality. In some ways, the song can be seen as a meditation on the human condition, and the various ways in which we attempt to make sense of our existence in the face of the unknown.
