Rose Cousins Lyrics

We have closed a reopened door
And I will never let you know
I will never let it show
I will never stoop that low
But I will never let you go
In "Coda" by Rose Cousins, the artist reflects on a past relationship that has ended and the emotions that come with it. The opening lines of the song, "We've been down this road before/ We have closed a reopened door," suggest that this isn't the first time the two have parted ways. Despite this familiarity, the singer maintains a sense of guardedness and secrecy, refusing to let her former partner know how she truly feels. The repeated line, "I will never let you go," conveys a sense of both determination and longing, as the singer wrestles with the desire to hold on to what they once had and the need to move on.
In the chorus, the singer explains, "I will never let you know/ I will never let it show/ I will never stoop that low." These lines convey a reluctance to express her emotions openly and a fear of vulnerability. While the road ahead may be uncertain, the singer remains steadfast in her resolve to keep her feelings hidden.

We've been down this road before
We've experienced this situation previously
We have closed a reopened door
We've had a past experience that we've reopened and then closed
And I will never let you know
I won't reveal my true feelings to you
I will never let it show
I won't allow my emotions to be visible
I will never stoop that low
I won't behave in a manner that goes against my pride and self-respect
But I will never let you go
Despite everything, I won't ever fully let go of you
