Maybe I Knew
Rose Cousins Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But you don't do what you say
You can't tell me how
I end feeling this way
All the roads leading home now
All the tears have run dry
You can't tell me why
Maybe I knew right from the start
This was as far this was as far
Could it be true that I am just hiding
And you can't see my heart
I know that it's all in time
I know it's just how its goes
I know there's no way to find
A good time to go
It doesn't make sense to stay together alone
If you mean when you meant
You'll be fine on your own
Maybe I knew right from the start
This was as far
Could it be true that I am just hiding
And you can't see my heart
I hear the words come out
But you don't do what you say
"Maybe I Knew" by Rose Cousins is a song about the inner turmoil that is experienced when a relationship is not working out. The singer of the song is having difficulties communicating with their partner. They are expressing their frustrations with the fact that their partner is not doing what they say, and they cannot understand why they feel this way. The singer is feeling lost and unsure of the future of the relationship. They have tears in their eyes, and all the roads leading home are blocked.

The singer is aware that the timing might not be right to end the relationship, but they also understand that it must come to an end.
Overall, "Maybe I Knew" is a raw and emotional song that explores the complicated nature of relationships. It is a reminder that even though relationships can be challenging, it is essential to be true to oneself and follow one's heart.
