The Dancers
Rose Cousins Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And I lead you to the center of the floor
We glided round the room to an old familiar tune
Without care and without clue to passing time
We laughed over tea and pie
I looked up into your eyes
Like I knew I would till we draw nigh
I'll care for you always and I know you'll do the same
And we'll lean into whatever's left to come
If you're to leave me first
We'll just do as we rehearsed
And you'll meet me I the middle wearing shiny dancing shoes
We will laugh and we will cry
It will keep this love alive
On and on side by side, hands entwined
We will glide
We will glide
In Rose Cousins's song, The Dancers, the singer reminisces on the beautiful moments she shared with her partner on the dance floor. The song's beautiful melody and lyrics evoke a nostalgic feeling of precious moments shared with loved ones. Throughout the verses, the singer describes her and her partner's beautiful dance moments, expressing her deep care and love for her partner. She promises to always care for her partner and to embrace whatever the future holds for them. Even when death comes to separate them, they will meet on the dance floor, wearing shiny dancing shoes, and continue to glide together, side by side, hands entwined, and hearts beating as one.
The song's beautiful lyrics are quite relatable to people, especially couples who share beautiful moments on or off the dance floor, expressing their love and care for one another, promising to glide through life, side by side, through thick and thin. The song's chorus, "We will laugh, and we will cry, it will keep this love alive, on and on, side by side, hands entwined, we will glide" speaks to the hope that regardless of what the future holds, they will maintain their love, laughter and relationship.
