Clooney's first recordings, in May 1946, were for Columbia Records. She sang with Tony Pastor's big band. Clooney continued working with the Pastor band until 1949, making her last recording with the band in May of that year and her first as a solo artist a month later, still for Columbia.
She came to prominence in the early 1950s with the novelty hit Come On-a My House written by William Saroyan and his cousin Ross Bagdasarian (better known as David Seville, the father figure of Alvin and the Chipmunks), which was followed by other pop numbers such as "Botch-a-Me" (a cover version of the Italian song Ba-Ba-Baciami Piccina by Alberto Rabagliati), "Mambo Italiano", "Tenderly", "Half as Much", "Hey There" and "This Ole House", although she had success as a jazz vocalist. Clooney's career languished in the 1960s, partly due to problems related to depression and drug addiction, but revived in 1977, when her White Christmas co-star Bing Crosby asked her to appear with him at a show marking his 50th anniversary in show business. She continued recording until her death in 2002. She was the aunt of Academy Award winning actor George Clooney; mother-in-law of singer Debby Boone; and sister to former television personality Nick Clooney. She was the ex-wife of Jose Ferrer; mother of actor Miguel Ferrer
Clooney was diagnosed with lung cancer at the end of 2001. Around this time, she gave her last concert, in Hawaii, backed by the Honolulu Symphony Pops; her last song was "God Bless America".
Brazil
Rosemary Clooney Lyrics

And softly murmured "someday soon."
We kissed and clung together, Then, tomorrow was another day
The morning found me miles away
With still a million things to say; Now, when twilight dims the sky above
Recalling thrills of our love, There's one thing I'm certain of
Return I will to old Brazil.
The song "Brazil" by Rosemary Clooney is a nostalgic love song about a past romance the singer encountered while in Brazil. The song begins with "Brazil, where hearts were entertaining June, we stood beneath an amber moon, and softly murmured 'someday soon.'" The lyrics suggest that the singer had a romantic experience with someone while in Brazil during a festive time, possibly during the Carnival season in June. The couple kissed and clung onto each other, and although they planned to be together in the future, the singer left for elsewhere the next day. The lyrics also imply that the singer had a million things to say or tell the other person but didn't have the chance before leaving.
The song continues with the verse "now when twilight dims the sky above, recalling thrills of our love, there's one thing I'm certain of, return I will to old Brazil." The lyrics express the singer's longing to relive the past love and to return to Brazil. The song is full of emotion and desire for a renewed connection with a person who was once important to the singer.
Overall, "Brazil" is a beautiful song with a poetic storyline that captures the listener's imagination. The lyrics suggest that the singer had a powerful emotional experience that has stayed with her even years later. The song evokes a sense of longing and nostalgia for a lost love, and Rosemary Clooney delivers the lyrics with her signature husky voice.

Brazil, where hearts were entertaining June,
Brazil, the place where love bloomed in the month of June
We stood beneath an amber moon
We shared a romantic moment under a golden moon
And softly murmured "someday soon."
We whispered about our dreams for the future and hoped they would come true
We kissed and clung together,
We shared a passionate kiss and held onto each other
Then, tomorrow was another day
We knew that there was still more of life to live and that there would be more wonderful moments to come
The morning found me miles away
The next day, I had to leave Brazil and go my separate way
With still a million things to say;
Even though we had shared so much, there was so much more that we wanted to express to each other
Now, when twilight dims the sky above
Years later, as the sun sets and the sky darkens, I remember our time together
Recalling thrills of our love,
I reminisce about the excitement and passion that we shared
There's one thing I'm certain of
Above all else, I know for sure
Return I will to old Brazil.
That one day, I will come back to Brazil and relive those happy memories once again.
