Clooney's first recordings, in May 1946, were for Columbia Records. She sang with Tony Pastor's big band. Clooney continued working with the Pastor band until 1949, making her last recording with the band in May of that year and her first as a solo artist a month later, still for Columbia.
She came to prominence in the early 1950s with the novelty hit Come On-a My House written by William Saroyan and his cousin Ross Bagdasarian (better known as David Seville, the father figure of Alvin and the Chipmunks), which was followed by other pop numbers such as "Botch-a-Me" (a cover version of the Italian song Ba-Ba-Baciami Piccina by Alberto Rabagliati), "Mambo Italiano", "Tenderly", "Half as Much", "Hey There" and "This Ole House", although she had success as a jazz vocalist. Clooney's career languished in the 1960s, partly due to problems related to depression and drug addiction, but revived in 1977, when her White Christmas co-star Bing Crosby asked her to appear with him at a show marking his 50th anniversary in show business. She continued recording until her death in 2002. She was the aunt of Academy Award winning actor George Clooney; mother-in-law of singer Debby Boone; and sister to former television personality Nick Clooney. She was the ex-wife of Jose Ferrer; mother of actor Miguel Ferrer
Clooney was diagnosed with lung cancer at the end of 2001. Around this time, she gave her last concert, in Hawaii, backed by the Honolulu Symphony Pops; her last song was "God Bless America".
Sisters
Rosemary Clooney Lyrics

There were never such devoted sisters
Never had to have a chaperon, no sir
I'm here to keep my eye on her
Caring, sharing
Every little thing that we are wearing
When a certain gentleman arrived from Rome
She wore the dress and I stayed home
All kinds of weather
We stick together
The same in the rain or sun
Two different faces
But in tight places
We think and we act as one
Those who've seen us
Know that not a thing can come between us
Many men have tried to split us up but no one can
Lord, help the mister
Who comes between me and my sister
And Lord, help the sister who comes between me and my man
All kinds of weather
We stick together
The same in the rain or sun
Two different faces
But in tight places
We think and we act as one, aha
Those who've seen us
Know that not a thing could come between us
Many men have tried to split us up but no one can
Lord, help the mister
Who comes between me and my sister
And Lord, help the sister who comes between me and my man
Sisters
Sisters
Sister, don't come between me and my man
The song "Sisters" by Rosemary Clooney is all about the bond between sisters. The lyrics describe a deep love and loyalty between two sisters who are always there for each other, whether it's sharing clothes or protecting each other from romantic entanglements. The song highlights the enduring nature of sisterhood, as well as the unbreakable bond that exists between siblings.
The lyrics open with the line "Sisters, sisters / There were never such devoted sisters," immediately setting the tone for the rest of the song. The singer describes how the sisters never needed a chaperone because they look out for each other, with one sister even sacrificing her own desire to stay home while the other goes out with a gentleman caller. Through all kinds of weather and in tight spots, the sisters are there for each other, thinking and acting as one.
The song acknowledges that others have tried to come between the sisters, but they always remain united. The singer warns, "Lord, help the mister / Who comes between me and my sister / And Lord, help the sister who comes between me and my man." Ultimately, nothing can come between the sisters, who always stick together.
Overall, "Sisters" is a heartwarming tribute to the special bond that exists between sisters. The song celebrates the love, loyalty, and unbreakable connection that sisters share, no matter what.

I'd heard that Rosemary Clooney had a sister, but never realized until I was reading a story about the making of 'White Christmas' that the two of them had recorded this song together.

Every time I hear this I can't help but visualize the scene from "White Christmas" where Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye lip sync and perform the dance routine for this song.
@joshn938
The ravishing Rosemary Clooney and the dainty and elegant Vera Ellen teaming up with Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby is why it is one of my favorite Movies! That is indeed the funniest scene of the whole film. Always makes me laugh.

A Very Happy Birthday Betty Clooney! You were just as talented as your sister, maybe even more, and should have had a longer career. I really love the way you and Rosemary sing this song.

This is so cute :) I sung this song with the girls in my music class back in 7th grade, and I grew up to be a Rosemary Clooney fan. I wish I had a sister to sing this song with ❤
