The initial eponymously titled album was released in 2008 on Adam’s own label ‘The Sycamore club’ receiving cult critical acclaim.
The Debut was followed a year later by the 'Apples & engines' ep and then in 2010 by the second long player 'Suburban Timebomb' at which point RKC had evolved into a six piece touring band, creating a much bigger noise.
Being influenced more and more from his other passion in electronic music, the third album 'British plastic' draws upon the brash guitar of classic British acts underpinned with big room production; a sonic scuffle between The Buzzcocks and the Beta band.
The album was recorded in Adam's makeshift home studio in the aftermath of breaking from Babyshambles. Playing all the instruments himself, except for lead guitar of which he drafted in fellow band mate Patrick Walden. RKC have crafted a gritty piece of quixotic pop combining a far greater sonic prowess than heard on previous releases.
The first track to be taken from the new album 'Here comes the summer' is a late summer, anti-anthem sitting jaggedly on a bench between a guitar and a sampler.
Broken Homes
Roses Kings Castles Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The seasons never change in this suburban town.
Couldn't leave you tales to tell.
What's been said you never said, you never left your home.
I slept whilst you destroyed yourself another time.
If I left you tales to tell.
And when your look is on the wane, wait until tomorrow,
What you should get done today.
And when the pleasure turns to pain, wait until tomorrow
What you should get done today.
These things you said so, they all mean much to me.
The meanings are the same, in this, your charming way.
Couldn't leave you, tales to tell.
I should be letting you know, thank you for bringing to show.
This time tomorrow they'll be up and running scared.
So now it's over, you're tired of falling down.
The witch hunt always led to here, one could never doubt.
Couldn't leave you tales to tell
The lyrics to “Broken Homes” by Roses Kings Castles are full of pain, longing and inevitable surrender. The first line “It's all been said now, we're all from broken homes” sets the tone for the entire song as it suggests that everyone has been profoundly hurt and shaped by something that they cannot escape from. The reference to a suburban town where the seasons never change also implies a sense of stagnation and hopelessness.
The second verse, “What's been said you never said, you never left your home. I slept whilst you destroyed yourself another time. If I left you tales to tell” depicts a situation where the singer is grappling with the fact that something deeply important has gone unsaid by someone close to them. They feel helpless and unable to change things as the other person spirals out of control.
