Rough Cutt also once had as a member Jake E. Lee, who later became famous for playing guitar for Ozzy Osbourne, and had previously played in an early version of Ratt. Ronnie James Dio produced two early Rough Cutt demos that Jake E. Lee played on, "Used And Abused" and "A Little Kindness". Ronnie James Dio's wife Wendy Dio was once Rough Cutt's manager. Ronnie James Dio co-wrote the song "Take Her" and Wendy Dio co-wrote the songs "Dreamin' Again" and "Black Widow" on the first Rough Cutt album. Ronnie James Dio wanted Jake E. Lee to join his band Dio, but this ended up not working out and Jake joined Ozzy Osbourne's band soon after.
Guitarist Craig Goldy and keyboardist Claude Schnell, both later of the band Dio, were also early Rough Cutt members. Amir Derakh of the band Orgy was also a member. Other members have included guitarist Chris Hager, bassists Matt Thorr and Joey Christofanilli, and drummer Dave Alford, who were all in early versions of Ratt.
Paul Shortino also sang for a band called The Cutt that some people may argue is a distinct band from Rough Cutt.
Amir Derakh, Matt Thorr, and Dave Alford were also in the band Jailhouse.

From her silken bed
She wines and dines
The woman must be fed
Lips open on
In her kiss of death
She'll take it all
She's a black widow
A widow of the web
She's a black widow
The widow must be fed
The trial of fire
Leads me to her web
A burning, burning desire
Lures me to her bed
The fires of darkness
That locks me within
This evil woman
She knows no sin
She's a black widow
A widow of the web
She's a black widow
The widow must be fed
A trail of fire
Leads me to her web
She'll eat you alive
The widow must be fed
She's a black widow
A widow of the web
She's a black widow
The widow must be fed
She's a black widow
A widow of the web
She's a black widow
The widow must be fed
Black widow
Black widow
The song "Black Widow" by Rough Cutt is about an evil woman who uses her beauty to lure men to their demise. The lyrics describe her as a "black widow" who whines, dines, and feeds on her victims. She is depicted as a predator who seduces her prey with a kiss of death, taking everything until there is nothing left. The singer is drawn in by her allure, describing his burning desire to be with her, but realizes that she is an evil woman who knows no sin.
The black widow is an apt metaphor for this woman, as she uses her web to trap her victims, much like the spider. The imagery of the trial of fire speaks to the danger of being caught in her trap, as the flames consume those who dare to enter. The repetition of the phrase "the widow must be fed" serves as a warning throughout the song, highlighting the inevitability of her victims' fates.
Overall, "Black Widow" is a cautionary tale about the dangers of falling for someone who may not have your best interests at heart. The woman in this song may be beautiful and alluring, but she is ultimately a predator who feeds on the unsuspecting.
