Fading Like a Flower
Roxette Lyrics

(Oh, yeah) every time I see you, oh, I try to hide away
But when we meet, it seems I can't let go
Every time you leave the room, I feel I'm fading like a flower

Every time I
Can't let go
Every time I, every time I, every time I
I'm fading, fading (oh, yeah)

Every time I see you, oh, I try to hide away
But when we meet, it seems I can't let go (can't let go)
Every time you leave the room, I feel I'm fading like a flower
(I'm fading like a flower)

(Yeah) (like a, like a) fading like a, fading like a rose
(Like a, like a) fading like a rose

(Oh, yeah) every time I see you, oh, I try to hide away
But when we meet, it seems I can't let go
Every time you leave the room, I feel I'm fading like a flower
(I'm fading like a flower)

Every time I
Never let go
Every time I, every time I, every time I
I'm fading, fading (oh, yeah)

Every time, try to hide away
But when we, can't let go (can't let go)
Every time you leave the room, I feel I'm fading like a flower
(I'm fading like a flower)

Fading like a, fading like a rose
Fading like a rose (hide away)
(Like a, like a) fading like a rose (can't let go), can't let go

I'm fading like a flower
I'm fading like a flower

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Roxette's song "Fading Like a Flower" speak about the struggle of a person against their emotions related to someone they have feelings for. The song's narrator is torn between wanting to hide their feelings and being unable to let go of the object of their affection. In the presence of the person, they feel alive and vibrant, but every time the person leaves, they feel like they are fading away, their vitality dwindling like a flower.

The metaphor of the flower is used to represent the transience of emotions and the fragility of relationships which can easily wither away if not nurtured. The lyrics suggest that the singer's feelings for this person are intense but also fleeting. Despite the singer's attempts to control their feelings and keep them hidden away, they still persist and continue to impact their emotions.

The song's chorus featuring the repeated phrase "Every time I" emphasizes the recurring nature of the singer's feelings, highlighting how they keep experiencing the same emotions time and again in the presence of the person they love.

In a time
Where the sun descends alone
I ran a long, long way from home
To find a heart that's made of stone
I will try
I just need a little time
To get your face right out of my mind
To see the world through different eyes
Every time I see you, oh, I try to hide away
But when we meet, it seems I can't let go
Every time you leave the room
I feel I'm fading like a flower
Tell me why
When I scream, there's no reply
When I reach out, there's nothing to find
When I sleep, I break down and cry (cry), yeah
Every time I see you, oh, I try to hide away
But when we meet, it seems I can't let go (can't let go)
Every time you leave the room
I feel I'm fading like a flower
Fading like a rose
Fading like a rose
Beaten by the storm
Talking to myself
Getting washed by the rain
It's such a cold, cold town
Oh, it's such a cold town
Every time I see you, oh, I try to hide away
But when we meet, it seems I can't let go
Every time you leave the room
I feel I'm fading like a flower
Every time I see you, oh, I try to hide away
But when we meet, it seems I can't let go
Every time you leave the room
I feel I'm fading like a-
Every time I see you, oh, I try to hide away
But when we meet, it seems I can't let go
Every time you leave the room
I feel I'm fading like a flower
Every time you leave the room
(I feel I'm fading like a flower)
Every time I see you
(Fading like a rose)
Every time you leave the room
(Every time I see you)
Every time I see you

I miss her so freaking much. I'm turning 64 next month so I'm also on my way to death.

@Melanezia

@Niven Rowe the ways of God are unpredictable. No one of us can say "soon I will die" or "I will not die soon". Anything can happen suddenly even with 20 y.o. person, there are so many sudden deaths nowadays. And also you can't say "the death is near" if you are 64, because God can easily take you only in 85-90 years old. Everything is up to Him. So no need to try to predict when is your end of this way. All of us should be ready for that in any day and live it like the last one.

@Alex Green So true Alex. I just have abused my body for so long it's finally catching up with me. Cigarettes, alcohol, weed, etc. I always ate properly and stay fit. Death will come. I would love to die at home.

@Melanezia

@Niven Rowe me too. I guess the most of young people all around the world used to treat their bodies like they are immortals. I already forgot who of the great people said: "We live like we will never die and die like we never lived"

This song still gives me goosebumps, years and years later. Now, yesterday, my daughter said it gave her goosebumps. Love it, timeless!!
