Formed in Memphis, Tennessee, by Todd Poole (vocals), former Atlanta Guitar Institute members Sid Fletcher (guitar) and Josh Weil (bass), and Scotty T (drums, who was touring the country with a Memphis blues band at the young age of fourteen).
Even an album produced by Mike Clink, sporting an outrageous cover and the debut single "Rob The Cradle" claiming "the one-take track, recorded live to tape with no edits, no dubs, no breaks, no shit," couldn't make the group stars. The group broke up shortly after, never to be heard from again.
Singer Todd Poole went on to play drums for Josie Wales and Saliva for a time. Guitarist Sid Fletcher is now a successful general dentist in Georgia with two practices. He is married and has two kids. Truman who will be three in August and Grace who was born this past September 30th.

Waking up dead
With your head so hollow
Tryin to make sense
When you feel so tight
Screamin all day
And it's hard to swallow
Gettin beat down
And it's rippin you
From your high
Do you know
What it's like
Do you know
What Its like
Do you know what it's like
Do you know
What Its like
Do you know
What Its like
Do you know what it's like
Making your way
But it's hard to follow
Always there
Shining the light
Always there
Shining the light
In your eyes
Do you know
What Its like
Do you know
What Its like
Do you know what it's like
Do you know
What Its like
Do you know
What Its like
Do you know what it's like
Can you tell me
Do you know
What Its like
Tell me
Do you know
What Its like
Tell me
Do you know what it's like
The song "What It's Like" by Roxy Blue is an anthem about trying to make sense of the world and feeling lost and beaten down. The lyrics describe the feeling of waking up "dead" with a "head so hollow," trying to understand the world but finding it difficult when feeling so tight and overwhelmed. The despair is palpable as the lyrics talk about how screaming all day is hard to swallow, and getting beat down rips one from their high.
Despite the heavy tone of the lyrics, there is also a sense of resilience and perseverance. The chorus asks the listener if they know what it's like and repeats the question several times, highlighting the universal nature of the struggles being described. The lines "making your way but it's hard to follow / Always there shining the light" serve as a reminder that even when times are tough, one can continue to move forward, and there is always hope.
Overall, "What It's Like" by Roxy Blue is a song about the difficulties of life and the struggle to keep going despite the challenges. It is a reminder that we all go through tough times, and we can find strength and solidarity in knowing that we are not alone in our struggles.
