What a little moonlight can do
Ooh, ooh, ooh
What a little moonlight can do to you
You in love
Your heart's fluttering all day long
You only stutter cause you for sure
Just throw that out of the way
Ooh, ooh, ooh
What a little moonlight can do
Wait a while
Till a little moonbeam comes peepin' through
He'll get bored
You can't resist him
All you'll say
When you have kissed him is
Ooh, ooh, ooh
What a little moonlight can do
Ooh, ooh, ooh
The lyrics of Roy Eldridge’s song “What a Little Moonlight Can Do” revolve around the powerful impact of moonlight on love. According to the artist, moonlight can awaken deep emotions of love and attraction within a person. The first two lines of the song express this idea, as the singer acknowledges the ability of just a little bit of moonlight to have a profound effect on an individual’s emotions. The next lines imply that being in love can cause feelings of excitement and nervousness, which can manifest as stuttering, but these feelings can be overcome by confessing one’s love.
The following lines of the song suggest that waiting for a little moonbeam to appear can heighten one’s emotions and evoke even more feelings of love and desire. The singer warns that one may reach a point of no return, unable to resist the allure and temptation of the moonlight’s romantic spell. The final line of the chorus reinforces the central theme of the song, emphasizing the power that the moon’s glow can hold over matters of the heart.
