They moved from Cork, Ireland to Boston MA in 1999, and despite critically acclaimed albums and work with the likes of George Harrison, did not achieve commercial success.
The group disbanded in 2008.

Long Time Coming
Rubyhorse Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
been climbing up for years
but its not the way it looks love
its not how it appears
don't ever darken my door
don't ever show your face
its a faithless revelation
oh you'll never know
how this feels.
this is music to my ears yea
long time coming...
one more day in your arms
seems half a world away
all those precious moments
will haunt me to the grave
oh you'll never know how this feels
this is music to my ears yea
long time coming.
its been a long time coming.
long time coming
its been a long time coming.
don't go...
don't go...
don't go...
The lyrics of Rubyhorse's song Long Time Coming describe a situation where the singer has been climbing up the same walls for years, but it's not how it looks like. The words are addressed to someone who is not trustworthy and who caused pain in the past. The singer tells this person not to darken their door or show their face again. It is a faithless revelation, which means that the singer no longer has faith in this person.
The chorus of the song states that the person will never know how this feels, and that it's music to their ears- it’s been a long time coming. The singer feels relieved and satisfied that this person is out of their life. However, one more day in their arms seems half a world away, and all those precious moments will haunt them to the grave. The last lines of the song beg this person not to go, maybe indicating that even though the singer knows it's better for them to be apart, they still have some kind of attachment to them.
Overall, the song is a powerful and emotional declaration of moving on from a toxic relationship. The lyrics communicate the singer's sense of relief and freedom, tempered by the bittersweet memories that remain.

The echo on that last bridge is pure production genius. These guys cannot be done (making music). No more beer. Going to bed. Hope wife is still there. Best.

I know, right? I HATE finding out that the album of a song I really liked was made a really long time ago and nothing else was made by them. But I also LOVE it that I had the one-in-a-million-chance to come across it in the first place. It's really bittersweet.
