Rufio released their debut recording in 2001 on The Militia Group label, Perhaps, I Suppose. The band returned in June 2003 with MCMLXXXV (released on the Nitro label), which was recorded with the aid of producer Nick Rasculinecz who has also recorded with Foo Fighters and Rancid. Rufio went on to play on the Warped Tour that summer following the release of their second album. Their third album The Comfort of Home was released in July 2005. Again, the band went on to join tour that fall with MxPx and Relient K after the "The Comfort of Home" release.
In late January, 2006 bassist Jon Berry and drummer Mike Jimenez left the ban due to creative differences. Following the loss of these two members the band pulled out of their tour with No Use For A Name in early 2006. While no official statement had then been made regarding a breakup, in a 2006 interview, No Use for a Name acknowledged as much.
On Thursday 5th April 2007 the band announced on their MySpace page that they were to have an official farewell show on June 1st 2007 at The Glass House, Pomona CA followed by a South American tour. The statement in full reads: "Farewell show and South American tour. well... its been a while friends... and we've finally decided that its time to do an official farewell show with all the members of Rufio on June 1st. We thought it would be a good way to show our appreciation to all our hometown friends and fans who have supported us from the very beginning. Its going to be a sad night but it also means the birth of new projects and new music! Released through The Militia Group, the tracks include "All That Lasts," and "The Loneliest." The other tracks are acoustic versions of the previous two songs. New members of Rufio include Taylor Albaugh (bass) and Terry Stirling (drums).
On July 27, 2010, Rufio released their 4th album, Anybody Out There. This was followed by worldwide touring. In October 2010, Clark Domae announced that he was leaving the band to pursue other projects. In April 2011, Terry Stirling Jr. left Rufio to pursue other endeavors.

With the slight of a dress I am fixed on you
Let me in, I need more than a taste
'Cause a glimpse won't do
So watch, feel my eyes caress every movement
If you only knew what you put me through
Kill the lights
Pressing on till the sun arrives
Shedding light on a view to save
Over and over you pull me in with conviction
You pull me in, I'm caught
Like a drug, so addictive
At first that you can't ignore
Feel you pace, through my veins without a trace
How I crave for more
I'm slipping away tonight
I've become so mesmerized
I'm burning up inside
You're the face of my addiction
I can't hide these good intentions inside
You're the spark igniting my desire
And I'm burning up with a touch
The lyrics of Rufio's song "Walk Don't Run" is all about a man who is completely taken over by the beauty of the woman he is watching. He describes her every move and the effect it has on him, saying that just a glimpse of her is not enough. He wants to be with her and possibly have a relationship with her, but he is so addicted to her that he can't help but feel mesmerized and a little out of control.
The lines "Kill the lights, Hiding nothing we'll intertwine, Pressing on till the sun arrives, Shedding light on a view to save" is basically asking the woman to let go of her inhibitions and be with him. They will intertwine and become one until the sun comes up and shines light on their love. The woman seems to be the one in control, as evidenced by the lines, "Over and over you pull me in with conviction, You pull me in, I'm caught."
The chorus explores how the woman is like a drug to him, so addictive that he can't ignore her. She is like fire, igniting his passion and desire for her, burning him up from within. He admits that she is the face of his addiction and he cannot help but have good intentions towards her. The lyrics of "Walk Don't Run" can be interpreted in different ways, but at its core, it is a song about a man who is smitten with a woman, who he cannot resist.
