Rufio released their debut recording in 2001 on The Militia Group label, Perhaps, I Suppose. The band returned in June 2003 with MCMLXXXV (released on the Nitro label), which was recorded with the aid of producer Nick Rasculinecz who has also recorded with Foo Fighters and Rancid. Rufio went on to play on the Warped Tour that summer following the release of their second album. Their third album The Comfort of Home was released in July 2005. Again, the band went on to join tour that fall with MxPx and Relient K after the "The Comfort of Home" release.
In late January, 2006 bassist Jon Berry and drummer Mike Jimenez left the ban due to creative differences. Following the loss of these two members the band pulled out of their tour with No Use For A Name in early 2006. While no official statement had then been made regarding a breakup, in a 2006 interview, No Use for a Name acknowledged as much.
On Thursday 5th April 2007 the band announced on their MySpace page that they were to have an official farewell show on June 1st 2007 at The Glass House, Pomona CA followed by a South American tour. The statement in full reads: "Farewell show and South American tour. well... its been a while friends... and we've finally decided that its time to do an official farewell show with all the members of Rufio on June 1st. Why Wait?
Rufio Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You're searching for something cannot find
The truth inside will leave you all, that you're living for
Thinking love is gone, its gone
Why wait for you to come home?
Why search for answers to nothing?
Don't come back crying for help
Growing old, and living for the moment
You're searching for something cannot find
The truth inside will leave you all, that you're living for
Giving all is gone, its gone
Why wait for you to come home?
Why search for answers to nothing?
Don't come back crying for help
Why wait for life to come
Think back, shocking, believe, its me
Think back, shocking, believe, all
Why wait for you to come home?
Why search for answers to nothing?
Don't come back crying for help
Why wait for life to come
Why wait for life to come
The song "Why Wait?" by Rufio is a powerful message about living life in the moment and embracing the truth within ourselves. The opening lines reiterate the idea of growing old and searching for something that cannot be found. This speaks to the idea that life can sometimes feel like a quest or journey, where we are constantly seeking fulfillment and purpose. However, the truth that we are searching for is already inside of us, and it holds the key to the meaning of our lives. We must embrace this truth and live our lives with intention, not wasting time on things that do not serve us.
The chorus of the song repeats the question "Why wait?" as a call to action. The lyrics ask why we are waiting for someone else to come and save us or for answers to fall into our laps. We are being called to take control of our own lives and stop expecting others to fix our problems. The final lines of the song, "Think back, shocking, believe, its me," are a reminder that we are the ones in control of our own destiny, and everything we need to succeed is already within us.
