Arthur
Rupert Gregson-Williams Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Rupert Gregson-William's song "Arthur" tell a nostalgic story about a time when the singer was playing with his Uncle Arthur after he had recovered from an illness. Uncle Arthur takes on the role of a commander, and they play soldiers together with Arthur in charge of the plane. The lyrics suggest that the memory is a fleeting one, as it comes "en passant," or in passing. The singer reflects on how much time has passed since those days with Uncle Arthur, remembering how he even taught him the clarinet through 20 lessons, but the singer ultimately preferred the accordion.

The lyrics of "Arthur" evoke a sense of wistfulness and longing for a simpler time. The usage of the phrase "just like that" in the French lines adds to this feeling of spontaneity, as if the memory just popped into the singer's mind. The use of instruments such as the clarinet and accordion adds a layer of nostalgia, as these instruments are often associated with old-fashioned music. The song captures the bittersweet feeling that comes with remembering a cherished memory of a loved one who may no longer be present, but who left a lasting impact on the singer's life.

Saw Aquaman today and can't believe how epic this score sounded during his scenes...

Nawab Ali

Especially in that gold epic 3rd act of the movie when he retrieves the Trident & claims his throne as the true king of the 7 kingdoms,it's absolutely grand ☺️🐳🐋🌊

I thought they overused the score at some points in the movie, like the one scene where Aquaman is driving his dad home and a huge wave comes. I felt that scene and many more would have been better if they didn't use score.

@Jaime Lannister Yes, In my opinion the best DCEU scores are the BvS and WW, Man Of Steel was very repetitive, I didn't even hear the Suicide Squad one, but yeah, JL sucked (I'm a DC Fan) 🙅🏽‍♂️

AngelFrost1367 YT Suicide Squad's score is fucking great too
