RUSH is the greatest band of all time. 3 guys from a small Canadian town (*edit* I know Toronto is a big city, but the suburb they're from is lesser known) who all were masters of their instruments. Never sold out. Never had major issues, no scandals, no drama. No backing band, no studio sit-in players.
They are unmatched.

That's why you'll never see a Rush Behind The Music. Nobody fucking the other guy's girlfriend or wife, no heavy drug use other than a little bit of pot (well, you know), but no major overdoses or untimely deaths other than by way of illness. I got to see this live in 1978? During the Hemispheres tour. Seeing it in person cannot be described. All I can say is, I think I was in a state of euphoria every time I saw this. I've seen Rush 25 times. Thus my addiction to this group has not waned.

So much talent. What has always amazed me is the sound they can produce live as a 3 piece. My first concert was the '81 Exit Stage Left Tour, La Villa was the encore. I assumed after the show that all bands could reproduce their LP sound live, but Rush is just on a different level with their precision. 14 year old me had no idea his first concert would be the best he would ever see.

Your comment resonates with me. Rush was my first concert. NP inspired me to become a great drummer and musician. That band had and still has a huge impact on the person that i have become. I owe everything to these guys. This one every 600 yrs drummer,and Geddy and Alex have probably collectively created more great musicians than any other band. Its been an honor to follow the trail they so courageously blazed. The music of rush will still be valued and revered 200 yrs from now. The magnitude of what these guys did changed and is still changing the world for the better. These guys are the goats.

A bit of trivia: I heard the boys say that they "wrote" all the parts to La Villa, but that it was so difficult, even they couldn't play it! Evidently it took quite a while of slogging through it over and over again until they could finally play it straight through! They said it felt good to push themselves to such an extent. I think that sums up their whole work ethic.

La Villa and Xanadu are my fave individual songs! Hemispheres still my overall fave album. I was just 11 years old when I heard them and they were instantly my favorite band! 45 years later NOTHING has changed my mind. The nostalgia these three bring back to me is both sad and lovely everytime I listen. So very, very grateful I was here for all of it!! These guys know (knew?) how to put on a hell of a show! I only got to see them about 17 times (but who's counting eh?) and was never disappointed. It was awesome growing up with these guys rocking the box daily and seeing them evolve from a group that was far ahead of their time and very under rated and under appreciated in the 70s (at least in the media) into the amazing band they became. So sad to lose Neil at such a young age, but his legacy will live on forever in our ears and hearts! RIP amigo.

Their prime seems to be 1975 to 1981. Their best playing, performance and song selections come from this era. The newer records are easily annoying to listen to and are less enjoyable.

It's really the guitar player's band, if you know their early history, and you can see it sometimes in the stage interactions. Things like Strangiato come primarily from him, and how could it be otherwise? It's his masterpiece. But there were so many good guitarists in the 1970s, and Peart was impressive, so people talked about the tricky tempo changes and all the creative embellishments Neil was doing. A lot of people didn't like the singer, and somebody would invariably bring that up, so Rush fans would point out what a great bass player Geddy was. Then, after all that, you get to Alex, who never seems to get enough credit but never seemed to mind.

In the documentary I just watched Neil Peart took lessons to change his approach and get better. What! He was as humble as amazing ! A gentleman, s scholar and an amazing drummer. RIP

Geddy Lee's bass playing is fenominal. These guys were so in sync. Rush is definitely one of the greatest bands of all times.

my apartments thought they could invade my house with 7+ workers ALL DAY. I cranked up this one. Greatest band of all time, Kellen, totally agree. My speakers on my computer are enough to throw a huge party. :D I know some won't be happy but they gave us 1 days notice to clear all our stuff to do their work. Major intrusion. Soooo, I'll be nice and play them some good music.

Yes! I watched him do a 10 minute drum solo at one of their concerts and it was so damn cool! We lost a GREAT drummer. May He Rest in Peace with all the other GREAT musicians we have lost.

We did. They kind of lost me after Signals and I went off in a heavier direction, but I loved 70s and early 80s Rush. Best percussionist ever to hit the rock world.

I did acid this day(the day Neil passed) and jammed RUSH the whole time. It was awesome. I recently did the same on the day EVH passed. It wasn't the same lol. Still fun tho! I also tripped the day Kobe died, but that was a coincidence.
