RAINBOW
Russ Hamilton Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

(Rainbow, rainbow, rainbow, rainbow)

I'm saving my money to buy you a rainbow
A rainbow, to fit on your finger
And after I've gone and bought you the rainbow
I'll go out and I'll buy you the moon

When we go walking side by side in the moonlight
We count the stars as we go strolling by
Maybe one day we'll own those beautiful diamonds
That glisten like the teardrops from your eyes

You know how I feel on a moment like this
When hand in hand when we reminisce
Your eyes seem to glow when you whisper low
I really love you

I'm saving my money to buy you a rainbow
A rainbow (a rainbow), to fit on your finger
After I've gone and bought you the rainbow
I'll go out and I'll buy you the moon

After I've gone and bought you the rainbow
I'll go out and I'll buy you the moon
I'll go out and I'll buy you the moon

(Rainbow, rainbow, rainbow, rainbow)
(Rainbow, rainbow, rainbow, rainbow)

When this song came out in 1957, my father called it "our song". I was just 4 at the time, and he and I always sang it together. Sadly, he died just a year later when I was 5, but Rainbow has forever remained in my mind and in my heart and remains a connecting thread between us... ❤
