And come back round again
But every time they took me by surprise
And there was a day I used to want
The things I did not have
But it's never better on the other side
That I've forgotten my way home
The best things always bring you back
Again over and over
The hands of time go round and round
They don't slow down when you lose your way
At every turn, the things you learn
You wear them proud like you wear your name
And as you go on down that road
Don't let the dust get in your eyes
It blows in the winds of change, yeah
The hunger is no stranger
Oh, I've sat with him before
Everything I've done has not been good
And as I've tried to make my stand
Oh, I've had to learn to fall
Maybe I have seen more than I should
But I've never gone so far
That I've forgotten my way home
The best things always bring you back
Again over and over
The hands of time go round and round
They don't slow down when you lose your way
At every turn, the things you learn
You wear them proud like you wear your name
And as you go on down that road
Don't let the dust get in your eyes
It blows in the winds of change, yeah, oh, oh
And I held on to my life
I kept my dream alive
And the dream ain't over and over, over and over
The hands of time go round and round
They don't slow down when you lose your way
At every turn, the things you learn
You wear them proud like you wear your name
And as you go on down that road
Don't let the dust get in your eyes
It blows in the winds of change
It blows in the winds of change, yeah
The winds of change
In Russ Taff's song Winds of Change, the lyrics depict the journey of a person who has experienced both successes and failures in their life. They have seen their opportunities come and go, sometimes returning unexpectedly. The person acknowledges that although they used to desire what they did not have, they have come to realize that the grass is not always greener on the other side. They have not gone so far that they have forgotten their way home, and the best things always bring them back.
The lyrics also touch on the idea that life is a journey filled with lessons. The person has sat with hunger and learned from their failures, even when it seemed like everything they did was not good. Despite the setbacks, they held on to their dream and kept it alive. They have learned to wear their experiences like a badge of honor and are proud of what they have learned. The song encourages the listener to remain steady and not let the winds of change blow dust into their eyes, but to continue on their journey.
Overall, Winds of Change is a song about resilience and perseverance. It acknowledges that life is not always easy, but through it all, one can still find a way to hold on to their dreams and learn from their experiences.

Well, I've seen my chances come and go
I have witnessed opportunities arise and disappear
And come back round again
And then return unexpectedly
But every time they took me by surprise
But I'm always caught off guard when they reappear
And there was a day I used to want
There was a time when I longed for
The things I did not have
Things that were out of my grasp
But it's never better on the other side
However, I've learned that the grass is not always greener
Well, I've never gone so far
I've never ventured too far
That I've forgotten my way home
To the extent that I lose my way back
The best things always bring you back
But the things you cherish most always lead you home
Again over and over
Time and again
The hands of time go round and round
Time continues to pass
They don't slow down when you lose your way
even when you feel lost
At every turn, the things you learn
At every juncture, there is knowledge to gain
You wear them proud like you wear your name
We take pride in the wisdom we acquire
And as you go on down that road
As you progress on this journey
Don't let the dust get in your eyes
Don't let the distractions hinder your vision
It blows in the winds of change, yeah
For change is inevitable and brings turbulence with it
The hunger is no stranger
The desire for more is a feeling we know well
Oh, I've sat with him before
I've experienced it previously
Everything I've done has not been good
My actions haven't always been righteous
And as I've tried to make my stand
As I've attempted to take a firm stance
Oh, I've had to learn to fall
I've had to accept failure
Maybe I have seen more than I should
Perhaps I've witnessed too much
And I held on to my life
But I remained determined to succeed
I kept my dream alive
And nurtured my aspirations
And the dream ain't over and over, over and over
The vision persists, time and again
The winds of change
Change is always present

Lyrics
It's a long, hard road
What a change has come
Hard change has come
I've been out in a cave
For forty days
With only a spark
To light my way
I wanna give out
I wanna give in
This is our crime
This is our sin
But I still believe
I still believe
Through the pain
And through the grief
Through the lies
And through the storms
Through the cries
And through the wars
I still believe
I still believe
Flat on my back
Out at sea
I'm hoping these waves
Don't cover me
I'm turned and tossed
Upon the waves
When the darkness comes
I feel the grave
But I still believe
I still believe
Through the cold
And through the heat
Through the rain
And through the tears
Through the crowds
And through the cheers
I still believe
You can't take that away from me, no
I believe
I'll march this road
And I'll climb this hill
Upon my knees
If I have to
I'll take my place
Upon this stage
I'll wait till the end of time
For You
I still believe
I believe
You can't take that away from me
I still believe
For people like us
In places like this
We need all the hope
That we can get
I believe
I believe
Through the shame
And the grief
Through the heartache
Through the tears
Through the waiting
And all the years
I still believe
I must believe
I still believe
[Incomprehensible]
I still believe

You need to see Russ Taff the movie where he talks about being beaten by his parents growing up. His battle with alcohol and how God delivered him.
After you see the movie, some of his songs make so much sense. Watch the movie then go back and watch is I Cry video. It will open your eyes to what he went through.
I appreciate Russ and Tori telling there story.

Yes, I remember my chains.
I remember the pain
that the weight
of my sin caused.
When I remember those chains
I am so thankful
for the forgiveness;
for His grace and mercy;
for the great sacrifice
He provided for me
through His love,
love that was greater
than all my sin.
There's room at the cross
for one and all
who would come,
now and until the end:
So come now before it is too late.
And you can say,
as I now say,
Doesn't this make you want to please Him,
Just as He pleased the Father?
Doesn't this make you want to do His will,
Just as He did the will of His Father?
For it is God who works in you
both to will and to do
of His good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13)
I love Him because He first loved me. (I John 4:19 personalized)
And so I want to please Him.

Russ doesn't sing this song he slays it from the depth of his soul. One of his best.

I thought I understood this song as a teenager, but what little I knew then about pain, loss and how hard life can be. Now, after burying my son and living with the unbearable pain that never goes away, I know what this song really means. Somehow I still believe.
@t0lkien1
+GentlRebel I'm sorry for your pain, I can't imagine what it must be like. Like you, this song helped carry me through one of the greatest losses of my (then young) life. Taff really gets it.
