Ex members are Titus Vadon (drums, vocals / ex-member from drahdiwaberl & das balaton combo), Zebo Adam (guitar, vocals / ex-member from hallucination company), Antonia-Alexa Georgiew (violin, vocals), Werner Köck (guitar), Manfred Franzmeier (saxophone / member from hot pants road club, ex-member from madrid de los austrias) and Christoph Schödl (drums).
Their music is a rousing mixture of russian folkmusic and ska / ska-punk.
"Russkaja is the exact opposite of Easy Listening music, Russkaja - terror of terrors of all Russian folk music societies - stands for fat Austrian Polka beats. The group members are the most illustrious musicians of the Alpine region, who possess a colourful mix of cultural backgrounds. They pour these various cultural influences into a postmodern version of Russian folk and spread their distinctive music all over Europe. It is sweaty and shouts out loud: Dance Dance Dance! It is a clash of trash metal, world jazz, funky stuff and Frank Zappa-esque Rock. All these things signify: Get down to business!"
There is a word play in the name of the band: RUSSKAJA means 'russian' on russian language, but it also stands for: 'Rus' = Russia - 'Ska' = style of music - 'Ja' = German for: Yes.

No One Is Illegal
Russkaja Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Sarah was a little girl, a girl like all the others
She loved to sing and play and dance
With her sisters and her brothers
She would be a mom someday
With a home and a loving man
But other people somewhere else
Had a different plan,
some other people somewhere else
Had a different plan
Oh,
No one no, no one no no, no one is illegal
No one no, no one no no, personne n'est illegal
No one no, no one no no, no one is illegal
Niemand, niemand, niemand ist illegal
Kein Mensch ist illegal
Her family gone, her home alight
In that little village
She took a flight in the dead of night
From murder, rape and pillage
She barely made it out alive
She made it to this country
Won't you give a helping hand?
Nadie es ilegalIt ain't hard to understand
Niemand ist illegal
Oh,
No one no, no one no no, no one is illegal
No one no, no one no no, personne n'est illegal
No one no, no one no no, no one is illegal
Niemand, niemand, niemand ist illegal
Kein Mensch ist illegal
She found a life, she found a love
She became my mother
The story of a litttle girl
Nadie es illegal
That's the message to the world
Niemand ist illegal
Oh,
No one no, no one no no, no one is illegal
No one no, no one no no, personne n'est illegal
No one no, no one no no, no one is illegal
Niemand, niemand, niemand ist illegal
No, no, no, no
Kein Mensch ist illegal
No, no, no, no
Kein Mensch ist illegal
No, no, no, no
Kein Mensch ist illegal
Niemand, niemand, niemand ist illegal
Kein Mensch ist illegal
The lyrics of Russkaja’s song No One Is Illegal bring to light the plight of immigrants and refugees who are forced to leave their homes to escape violence and persecution. The song tells the story of a little girl named Sarah who loved to sing, play and dance with her siblings, dreamt of starting a family of her own one day. But her dreams were shattered when her family was forced to leave their home due to a violent conflict that left their village in ruins. Sarah fled to another country in the dead of night to escape murder, rape, and pillage. And despite the hardships she faced, she found new love and a family.
The song’s main message is that no human being is illegal. It is a rallying cry to reject the idea that any person, no matter their race, nationality or legal status, should be treated as unwelcome or as a threat. The song also calls on listeners to give a helping hand to those who have had to flee their homes in search of safety and a better life. It challenges the listener to understand that these people are not "the other," but rather they are human beings who have the same desires and dreams as anyone else.
The song’s use of multilingual lyrics is compelling, as it reaches out to a wider audience, representing the diversity of the world. The inclusion of languages such as German, French, and Spanish, among others, is a testament to the song’s message of inclusivity and unity. The music video for the song is equally impactful, featuring real refugees and their families holding up signs with messages of hope and resilience.

This is beautiful and heartbreaking. No one is illegal.

Exept rapists, and pedophiles, and murderers, and terrorists, and assholes in general
@headofathousandsheepswool
@@Dannzt Not even those. Making exceptions for who deserves to live gets into some real icky territory because defining who's an asshole is subjective to everyone. And even criminals have human rights---for the same reasons. Believing that someone deserves to die is not the same as believing the government should have the right to kill them. I don't think rapists deserve to live, but if we start killing them, that's just too much power for a state to hold.
